Great professor, with specific insight into the topic. Thoroughly enjoyed his course, wish I had the opportunity to take more with him before he retired.

Politics in Islamic Nations.. Syed just wants you to come to class and halfway listen. The structure of the course is completely ridiculous and I honestly haven't used the books half as much as I should have. He grades pretty easily. He's a sweet guy and says some randomly funny things. Class is enjoyable but dull. I would recommend him.

Syed should have been a much better teacher than he is. Though sometimes he offers an interesting perspective he is also disorganized and extremely bland. He grades hard even for a 400 level class. I wouldn't wish his class on my worst enemy.

I've had Syed multiple times for higher level courses and, while he's a smart man with an interesting perspective, his classes are horrible. He's fairly boring, disorganized, he has no concept of online coursework, and his grading can be all over the place. Avoid

The online class can be difficult. Follows syllabus directly. Sometimes he would forget to post the weekly assignments and we would get the week off. Quizzes can be challenging but most questions follow the book or can be found online.

His notes, readings from the book, and quizzes don't match up at all. Asked him for help and he didn't explain a single thing to me. Horrible online teacher.

i took this class online and i do not recommend that at all! or if you do, try to take it with a different professor. the tasks that needed to be done were easily noted. the quizzes=death. midterm [and probably final]=hell. if you enjoy the subject and know about it already, i would recommend him. if not, sit in class with Dr. Ball

I am currently in my second class with Syed, I absolutely love this professor! Great guy, opened my eyes up to many ideas; you may think he is boring if you're not interested in the subject - but if you are interested he is a dynamic professor, very unconventional, and if you want to you can really learn a lot from him.

Avoid him at all costs if the class is online. I took PS 101 which was an introductory course but because he did not understand WebCT there were many problems for the entire year. There is no feedback and the syllabus makes no sense. We started with 60 and we are down to just 24. I am getting an A-/B+ but it required a lot of hard work on my part.

Class was online and he contributed next to nothing. We had to read about a chapter a week and took one quiz every 2-7 weeks. If you don't read, you will still pass the quizzes. If you have an interest in getting four credits for nothing, take the class. If you have a legit poli-sci interest, look elsewhere.

The class/lecture is uber boring, but overall, the course is quite easy. He doesn't follow the syllabus at all and is somewhat disorganized. However, he gives you a lot of the same questions on tests so that you know them well. Show up, take notes, write the papers, and you are at least guaranteed a B or better. He is also very amusing.

Professor is a little left of Castro, but he enjoys his material, and overall is pretty helpful. Not a hard grader, but requires a lot of work. I guess it all evens out in the end.

Damn, class is long! Lectures last long time, and tho the prof is a nice guy, he goes so slow, and does not follow the syllabus in the slightest (meaning you have to get notes directly from class, which is a major drag, to know what you'll be tested on). Luckily the tests ain't too hard, and he gives you other changes to boost your grade.
