Prof Murphy is a true gem of SCU. She is very knowledgeable about WGST. This is my first WGST class I have ever taken; it was quite difficult but definitely worth it! I highly recommend taking this class for advanced writing and religion 3 credits.

Dr. Murphy is a fantastic professor who is incredibly knowledgeable about her subject and incredibly caring to her students. A lot of the material can be a bit dense at first, so if you don't care to read or actually try then don't take her class - but you would definitely be missing out. No tests, just papers and she always makes time to help you.

I've heard this class is the hardest Religion 1 course at SCU and it definitely seems like it. Some topics in the class are very interesting but they're not as frequent as the dense, content heavy lectures and readings. She's a really good professor and is extremely knowledgeable about the subject, but the class is very difficult. Good luck!

Hardest grader, assignments are unclear, about two hours of reading as homework, class is confusing and subjects follow no chronological order and loves to surprise students with questions that they do not know and then deducts points for it. Honestly, if you see her class run the other way because if you don;t you'll regret it when it's too late.

My original post got deleted for profanity so I'll keep it reasonable. I liked Prof Murphy and then I started getting grades back. If you can't identify everything that she can AUTOMATIC B. She is the worst grader and single-handedly made my GPA 10x worse. I've never worked so hard to do so poorly. AVOID HER and this class... she makes me sad.

Kinda have to read a lot, not actual homework that you have to turn in though. Tests are straight from her lectures but they still require studying and preparation. Essays are easily graded but take time to complete no matter what. If you put forth some effort getting an A isn't too hard.

There is a lot of reading, class prep questions, and papers. The papers/exams are only worth ten points but are super hard and participation is a big part of your grade. She also takes forever to upload grades. One of the most challenging classes I've ever taken.

She is a very nice and incredibly knowledgeable woman about her subject. Her lectures are interesting but very very long. Before each test she gives you a list of topics on the test as well as the essay that will be on the test so getting a good grade is just a function of effort.

DO NOT TAKE she was a nice person, an enthusiastic teacher, VERY interested in the subject, but the most unreasonable ridiculous grader ive ever had. there were a total of 6 people in the class. the readings were 1-2 hours per night along with a double sided question sheet (very specific), still got a C+

I love prof. Murphy and she was very intelligent and knowledgeable, but her class is extremely difficult. She's a very tough grader and while all the material is interesting and the class is definitely boring, it is a ton of work. I enjoyed the class, but don't know if I would recommend taking it to someone else.

Very intelligent prof, and the only class I actually learned something in. Lots of reading and there's a huge paper, but I never really did the reading and as long as you take notes during lecture you'll do alright on quizzes. She's very helpful, and will do everything short of writing the actual paper for you if you ask. Is a slow grader, however.

Murphy is the most unreasonable teacher i have ever suffered through a class with. She expected 12 hours a week of work for a religion 2 credit, took at least 3 weeks to return assignments, and graded absolutely unreasonably. Warning: you will hate your life if you take this class

She is a very intelligent woman and you learn a lot! however, class is very hard, lots of homework, and expect to put several hours of homework a night into this class. most people get c's, and that's if you really try. don't take this class, if you don't believe us, then go ahead and find out for yourself.

This professor expects all of her students to know as much as her about the historical Jesus . During exams, she makes you quote herself, the book, and class notes. She has a 1.6 rating that is getting lowered with this review. The proof is in the pudding!!!!

The best religion professor I have had at SCU. She definitely expects a lot from students, and you will need to put in effort to get an A, but it is definitely doable. I have absolutely no interest in religion, but really loved this class. One of the most intelligent profs I've had. Knows her stuff!
