She's not the worst and not the best. I didn't learn much Spanish because she isn't a great explainer and I was fairly bored. She is friendly though.

Professor Hoar is an average teacher. She makes you speak a lot in class and her tests range from easy to difficult. You don't have to try hard to get a decent grade though. Make sure you always bring the book, volunteer, and get those notecards because she will forget to give them to you. They definitely add up at the end of the semester.

She is very friendly! Homework is rarely checked and so long as you study the given material the night before a test, you're fine.

Prof. H. is a wonderful woman. She's really passionate, putting a lot of effort into teaching the Spanish language & getting to know her students. She's always willing to help & praise. Hoar appreciates the culture of Spain. She's an extremely fair grader! Above all, she speaks clearly & at a perfect pace; people can always understand her. <3 her!

I hate spanish but her class isnt that bad. ts a lot of annoying and tedious work but she barely reads it. cares a lot about stuff like attendance and participation, but is somewhat unclear about the stuff she teachers vs what she tests on. overall, a decent experience because how much she cares about the language and gets to know students.

i don't know what everyones talking about. she is a really nice teacher and she knows the language really well. if you study and put the work in, it's really easy to get an A. her tests are easy, she grades fairly, and she teaches the material. she can be a bit boring sometimes but she knows how to teach the language. taking her again next semester

NO NO NO NO NO. In high school I loved Spanish, but I cannot stand her class. She always is frazzled and can barely get her words out when she speaks. I just found myself constantly frustrated and uninterested. I'm switching to another teacher for next semester.

Took Hoar for both intermediate levels. I love this woman. She is so enthusiastic and really just wants everyone to do well. She's obsessed with Spain and drinking Sangria and Margaritas. She encourages everyone else to do so. Do the homework, study a bit for tests, and participate in class and you'll be golden. TAKE HER!

From what I'd heard about her I wasn't looking forward to the class. It actually wasn't that bad. She gives a lot of hw, not hard-just tedious. Didnt go to the lang lab at all. Tests are fair, just pay attention in class. She's enthusiastic, loves spain and teaching spanish. She big into spanish culture too. Not a bad a class to fill the core req.

LOVE HER. i have zero interest of talent when it comes to spanish and i actually found myself enjoying the class. she's really sweet, speaks spanish a lot but does it slowly so it's clear, her tests aren't bad if you pay attention in class and she's very approachable. even gives you her home phone number in case you have any last minute questions.

Professor Hoar is awful, she is hardly a professor at all. While she is enthusiastic and polite, she easily gets confused and flustered-- which brings about an unprofessional attitude while trying to explain a student's Q. She never actually teaches, she simply rants and expects you to learn everythin from the text.

Do the work, read the book, you will succeed. Hoar is a great teacher. It's amazing that, nine times out of ten, those who complain either don't do the work or don't understand Spanish. Do her assignments, listen to her (she's kind of funny, too) and go to class. Otherwise, shut the hell up.

i did well in her class and i pretty much fell asleep every day. if you're looking for an easy A take her, but if you need to continue with spanish for a requirement or you want to continue with spanish stay away: you won't learn anything new. all you do in class is sit around in a circle and go over your homework. EVERY DAY. not good pactice at al

she's a cool lady, and yes, kinda elementary. it's weird too, she reminds me a lot of my grandmother...who also speaks spanish. really nice and tries to make the subject easy. the tests are only 50%. there are some papers, homework, lab manual, and a cultural project. really nice though and wants you to understand. even nicer at her office hours

She certainly makes you feel like you're in elementary school, but she doesn't care about the language lab, and that's a good thing - just do it. READ the culture sections in each chapter because they make up 10% of each test. She's a stickler for neatness, so try to write legibly in the lab book and on the homework. I'm taking her again.

Fabulous woman!! I learned nothing from my last spanish teacher and EVERYTHING from this woman. Homework is assigned but you don't have to do it. Doesn't check language lab. Tests aren't too easy, just read the cultural stories. You will laugh so hard in this class!!! Encourages students to drink Margaritas, and she likes to dance.

1. Her HW is annoying and plentiful. Plus she keeps a rigid attendance policy... kinda like your H.S. spanish teacher. 2. Her tests are 10percent based on your command of the language and 90percent based on random things she decides to add. 3. You never actually learn anything through her, the class is based on your homework... thats it.

Dreaded going to this class since it's devoid of any real thought. Stay away unless you love pointless homework assignments and rigid attendance policies. A prestigious place like Fordham would be much better off without her.
