His lectures are all over the place and hard to follow. One midterm, one research paper, and a final. Class like a podcast- cameras and mics off and listen to him lecture the whole time. Overall a very sweet man and if you put any effort in at all you wont fail, he won't let you. Not easy but doable for a gen ed. Buy the books (4)!!

He literally lets you choose what test version you take so there is honestly no reason to do too poorly in this class as long as you show up. Start the 10+ page paper early or else you will probably hate your life. Two tests & one paper so do well on them and study the terms on the sheet he gives ahead of time or the tests will be tough.

Very knowledgeable. Straight lectures and nothing else for the class. one midterm and a final, essay based. one 10-15 page research paper. Laid back attitude and very flexible on issues like due dates for 10-15 page papers. great guy, good teacher, good class.

This man is great. He definitely knows what he is talking about and is willing to work with your needs. He has three different options for the tests and his study guides include what will be on there. Pay attention, take notes, and talk to him when you're confused and you will pass with flying colors.

He's so smart it's scary, and he makes the material even more fascinating than it already is. However, by the end of the semester the constant detail-packed lectures get tiring, and all I want to do is TALK about the information. Also, we barely got out of WWII, though the timeframe for the course is 1929-1961. Too much detail in the lectures!

You will not regret taking this professor. He's in this to help you and as he says, if he got pleasure out of failing students, he could easily do so. Gives so many options on exams from all MC to MC/essay to all essay (MC is harder than you think!) plus a term paper. Put in moderate effort and you're set.

Guerrier is the best history professor at JMU. I took him for 330 and 432. One research paper on prety much anything and two exams. Exams are straight from the lecture and have TONS of options (30 identifications, pick 2. 6 essays, pick 1, etc.) He WANTS you to do well, and he WANTS you to enjoy the material. Take any of his classes possible.

GURRIER is the man! Such an excellent class. I can definitely say I learned so much stuff. The class itself is very, very time consuming though and requires a LOT of work. 2 quizzes, 2 midterms, 5 pg. book review, 10 pg. term paper, discussion journals (on videos during separate class), and offers extra credit. He teaches for his students!

I had this class at 8am 4 days a week and it was painful to sit through, the professor is a nice guy but everyday all he does is stand up in front of the class and talk for 50 minutes and does not write anything down. The extra day was spent watching movies so that was nice, try to take another professor but if you end up with him it won't be bad

I hate history and had to take this class for gen eds, but he made it so interesting that I actually enjoyed going to class. Lectures are interesting, and as long as you go to class there is no need to read any of the text assignments because the 2 test and 2 quizes are straight from lecture. Very funny, laid back guy.

Great teacher, lectures are interesting as well as entertaining. Has a very unique and politically incorrect sense of humor. Two tests and a term paper, all of which are extremely easy, and no attendance policy. Also tells great stories.

I honestly look back at my college career and MISS his class; the guy has a real laid back demeanor and knows his stuff, wants you to enjoy the material but won't get pissed if you don't. Probably the greatest prof I had at JMU and most of my friends and I sought out other classes he taught. If you need Ghist, you want Guerrier.

DON'T BUY THE TEXT BOOKS. NONE OF THEM. for what the class is, he makes it pretty interesting. Plus he's just pretty badass. discussion group meetings are mandatory attendence but regular clas isn't. It's still a good idea to go to as many as possible since the tests are all from the lectures.

I loved him! He knows anything and everything about history. You'll be amazed at all of the random little facts he knows. His tests are fairly easy as long as you study the vocab he gives you and you go to class. The term paper and all of the writing assignments are really easy, you're pretty much guaranteed an A on them. Take him!!!

The lesson plan for every day is the same: sit down, listen, take notes. The class is not that bad though, as I found some of the material to be interesting. Guerrier is also a cool guy. Don't really need the books.

GREAT PROFESSOR! Very fair, doesn't try to screw you over or have you fail the class. Lectures are good, but it can get boring at times. 3 tests, 2 quizes, 2 papers, film journals. The test and quizes aren't hard. Just pay attention during the lectures and you'll get at least a B
