Comment:
I went into the class expecting to despise sociology; instead, I enjoyed it thoroughly (I would change my major, but I'm afraid of working in a coffee shop the rest of my life). Prof. Dobbertin is unorthodox, but I learned a lot from him. Don't worry, Prof. Dobbertin-there are a lot of students who think you're very effective!! :)

Don't bother going to class, just go to SI sessions and read the chapters required for the test and you'll be fine.

This professor IS an idiot! end of story. His lectures have nothing to do with the class. If you try to sit through a semister of his classes you will want to blow your brians out. He is the worst teacher i had in my life! However, the class was easy, for me anyway. It would be tougher if I didnt have a great Soc teacher in high school.

Comment:
Everything is a conspiracy theory and he basically teaches his opinions. He tells you that you need to read the book, but then doesn't take any questions from the book for the test. Take good notes in the class, try to go to SI and take everything he says with a grain of salt. He will annoy you, that's guaranteed.

He's great. All the cop school kids don't like him because they can't figure out that there's a difference between what constitutes opinoin and what constitutes theory and knowledge based on factual evidence. It's sort of ironic that they hate him for having what they call having a "different opinion." Stick with Madden he's easy & pointless!

THis professor reminds me of the lorax stomping on his tree stump insisting that he speaks for the tress, but really he's just entertaining himself.

This guy is easily the worst professor i've ever had, and have ever had to deal with. He does not teach the material, he teaches his opinions and biases, and tests from them. He uses bits and pieces of the book, only the pieces that support his opinions though. If you different opinions from him, don't even bother, you won't get anywhere.

What a joke. If he got tenure, so could my dog! He's probably one of the worst teachers I've ever had. If I had $1 for every time he talks about growing up in Detroit, I'd be in Hawaii! Lectures on his own personal biases (and tests you on them) and his tests take FOREVER to be graded. Run, don't walk, away - take Crandall instead!

He's great. very informed and helpful. Lectures based on data and evidence with theorectical grounding which is very different than what some incorrectly call "opinion." Highly rocommended.

Very interesting guy, makes classes fun and makes you think. Don't like that he kinda tries to push his opinions, but who can fault that, I try to push my opinions too. He knows what hes talking about when it comes to the subject matter. Real cool guy.

Great professor. All you cop-wanna-be's are used to taking that **** maddens classes where he gives you the answers to the 10 question multiple choioce "tests" and you still get ****ing C's. Love the smart cops out there! Heaven forbid you might get challenged on your close narrow prespective.

A really easy class just mark the question on the test that least makes sense. I think he is LSSU's version of Ward Connerly.
