Professor Needham is a very good lecturer. You can tell that he wants his students to understand the materials as well as use them in real-life situations, but it is tough since the subject, FIN, is a difficult one to teach. He takes his time to explain things more clearer if someone doesn't quite understand, so don't be afraid to ask a question.

He is one of the best teachers I've had at SFSU, the fact that people struggle in the class is a joke, he explains things very clearly with real world applications that make the material very easy to understand. Just pay attention to what he talks about because that's what's on the exams. I wish he taught more finance classes, highly reccomended.

Best finance teacher at the school. Very thorough. He cares about how he teaches and tries extremely hard to make it easy to understand. He's got a great, likable personality which is uncommon in finance. The study guides are exactly what you need. Do the homework, study guides, quizes = A. 3 tests, each have about 10-12 multi. choice questions.

He is easy to discuss things with, no matter what. Friendly, will do his best to help you. If you follow his study guide, and review (or redo on a separate sheet or paper) quizzes, then you will be good to go; however, I said attendance is not mandatory, but you need to not miss even one class, or catching up on your own becomes quite difficult. Needham is one of the funniest and clever teachers that I have had through my academic career.Real life examples,jokes,- that's what you can expect from his class. Exams are based on the material covered in class and HW quizzes

It's a known fact that FIN 350 is one of the most scariest subjects out of all business core courses;however Needham makes this class easy and close as possible to the real world of finance. He provides a lot of examples from the real life. His tests are hard but based on the quizzes he provides.

Finance is not the easiest subject -- but M. Needham makes it understandable, interesting and most of all, DOABLE. Highly recommended. Great real-world examples, clear study guides before midterms ... somewhat challenging class format though, at 3 tests worth 30% each plus 10% for quizzes. But you can do it!

Good guy. He try's to make the class relevant; which it absolutely is if you plan to retire. Anyway, he makes finance about as easy as he can. He is willing to try different approaches of teaching, in order to make sure you are comfortable with the material, and makes himself readily available at office hours. Do the quizzes, and go to class.

This teacher is one of the few Finance professors that actually speaks English as a first language. If you fail his class its because you are lazy. Go to all the lectures, attempt and study all the online quizzes and you'll get an A. If you don't understand what he's talking about, let him know and he is more than happy to explain it another way.

If you can are competent with basic algebra, bussiness terms and note taking, this class will be a breeze. He wants you to pass and does his best to help you understand the material. His exams have 12 moderately easy multiple choice question, which come straight from the lectures. He is a decent guy and a good teacher, and I enjoyed his class.

I walked into this class not expecting it to be easy. And I felt the professor spent too much lecture time solving problems. However, he was very helpful and able to answer any questions, and listened to students. Maybe his style could do with a bit of polishing, but he really cares and understands.

Needham is an awesome teacher, If you attend all his classes and do all the practice quizzes you should have no problem passing the three 10-12 question tests that make up most of your grade. Uses relevant company's financial data for examples so what he teaches has practical use outside of class. He once ate a jalapeno mid lecture. No joke.

Grade is counted on 3 exams that are 12 questions each with no cheat sheet, so if you miss one, it impacts your grade. I barely passed even though I read the book and did all the homework. Doesn't go through homework problems. Handwriting is illegible on the board and forgets stuff. Doesn't give plusses or minuses for the grade. DO NOT TAKE!

No curve. Only 10-12 questions per exam, so if you miss one or two, you're screwed. Full homework points as long as you try. He doesn't give pluses or minuses so even if you're at an 89, you still get the same grade as someone you barely got a B-. Not the hardest of classes, but I would not reccomend to a friend.

This class was hard...his explanations were not very clear...in regards to extra credit he doesn't even really curve ..if he did I would have passed...it doesn't make sense to have to read the book twice to understand it.isn't it the reason why we have a teacher there to teach us? He was a nice teacher but not very clear..hard to learn from....

He's alright. He grades you on 3 exams, with 10 multiple choice questions each exam. He also grades you with a few online quizzes, and that's about it. His mysterious curve can be helpful, but this is still one of those terrible business courses. Overall he's okay.

I got an A in this class. A lot of people did bad in this class but this class is not as bad as people make it out to be. The exam is straight from the textbook. All you have to do is read the chapter twice and make sure you know how to do the assignments in the textbook. Remember to learn how to use your calculator. I have a TI-30

Professor Needham is the bomb. He curves his grades, so even if you get 80% on a test you can have an A, and not everyone will get 100% trust me. The class is HARD, but he will always take the time to explain the material. You get 100% on quizzes even if you all questions wrong plus you only need to take half. Read the work and do the HW.

He's really hard to follow and runs through the material very quickly. You shouldn't have to re-learn the material from the book if you've already gone to the lectures but because of the way he goes over things, often times you do in this case.
