I loved Mr. Ruse's class, he is so funny and his class is so entertaining. It is very lecture heavy but its fine. If you like Philosophy you'll love his class I thought it was difficult though. There aren't many assignments in the grade books so focus on quizzes and tests

Test 1 was a passing grade by context though class day 1 I was absent. Received a 0! Because I didn't answer the quiz word for word his answer from the day 1 lecture. He demands that you write his answers verbatim on tests. He mocked 9/11 and was rude. Hands down the worst professor at CCU. As an alumnus of 2008, I can say this person is a tyrant.

One took quizzes and exams in his class, lectures are SUPER boring, he paces back and fourth the whole time. Be ready to take heavy notes, and read then multiple times. He expects you to know the material word for word, and is a heavy grader. No the work besides quizzes and exams to help your grade.

His philosophy 101 class ended up unexpectedly being one of my favorite classes I've ever taken even though I initially only took it as a requirement. As long as you take good notes, don't miss a lot of classes, and study you're set. Not an easy A class, but definitely manageable if you put the effort in.

He is by no means conventional and a little neurotic but I eventually came to like him and his class. I took him for philosophy of technology and it definitely makes you think.. (if you care enough to take it seriously and be openminded). But DO NOT take for an easy A. You have to read and be able to apply what you have read to fully comprehend it.

I took 5 classes with Mike. He completely rocked my world-view. If you want a class that can change your life, take one from him. He is a nut, but any teacher who will throw a desk on the ground during class kicks butt in my book!

Professor Ruse was an excellent teacher and welcoming to students during his office hours. Being chair of the philosophy department, he is very knowledgable. His class is difficult, requiring memorization and application of theories and the tests are challenging. Do not take his 101 if you are not willing to work hard for your grade.

Don' take this if you want a 101 class to blow off. He will tell you that the first day and he is serious. He goes over all the theories word for word so the tests rely on memory and comprehension of that material. Overall very interesting class and the man is hilarious. He has the most ridiculous stories, which made the 930 am class interesting.

Hes a nice guy but his tests are IMPOSSIBLE! it is TRUE when they say "Either you get philosophy or you don't!" He always wants to smoke and drink coffee, all he ever talks about.... hes extremely hard but like I said he is a nice guy. Only take him if you enjoy philosophy...

Mr. Ruse is pretty cool. At first I thought he was absolutely crazy. once, He took time out of his break to reteach the lessons I missed from not being in class for two days straight. I was really behind but he helped me catch up. I even got to reschedule the test. Mr. Ruse is the best. If u don't understand something just ask b/c he'll help you.

Dr. Ruse is an amazingly brilliant professor. He almosts makes me want to switch majors. His essay questions are tough, but he's a great guy. Lectures are great...has a hilarious sence of humor. If your looking for a breeze through, this isnt your class, but if you give him a chance, he will teach you a ton of stuff. Great class.

If you are looking for a class to breeze through don't take Ruse. Although Ruse is a tough teacher, he is very funny. Lectures are hilarious and he never quizes you on readings from the book. Tests are based on lectures and the multiple choice sections are easy. The essays on his tests tho are alot of writing and hard to remember.

The class is tough, but he makes it interesting and tells you how to get an A on the test. He's very willing to help go over material before a test and is really lenient about coming to lecture. If you take notes and pay attention you'll do good.
