Never knew my very first semester with him was also his last semester at UVic. The best prof I've ever had and the sole reason I am in Sociology. Thanks for your wonderful teaching, RIP Dr. Baker. You will be missed.

Baker is great. Simply put. He is easy going, understanding, humorous, and seems to remember being a student once himself. He keeps things easy and relatable ! I am holding off on taking certain class's so I can take them with him!!

Baker is an all around awesome guy, and has a great sense of humor. However, Soci 488 proved to be pretty useless- pretty much skimmed the surface of the topic, and he tended to only look at it from a functionalist perspective. I love soci, but I pretty much dozed through this whole class. Didn't learn anything new. Dissapointing.

A really interesting and humorous lecturer who unlike most Sociology professors is not an ideologue, but rather someone who uses logic. With a few moderately difficult assignments spread over the term, Dr. Baker has to be one of the fairest testers I have ever had throughout my university career. I highly recommend taking a Baker class.

Straight up a good man, His test are a little on the hard side but he will lay them right out for you and have no surprises. Also, he's helpful, fun to listen and doesn't require long drawn out answers to questions; he just wants the facts no flare.

He has a harsh bias towards scientific, quantitative sociology. If you are a Marxist of Feminist you will most likely be offended by his remarks. He definitely excercises his right to freedom of speech, but keep in mind a lot of what he says, even his lecture notes, are opinion rather than fact. Seems like a nice guy though.

Probably one of the laziest profs i've ever had. Writing 100 word responses because he doesn't want to read anymore than that is harder than 300 word responses. He was a good prof overall though. Lectures were clear, and he was clear about what was on the test. If you go to class, you will do well. His lazyness is frustrating though.

easy class. you only need to study the notes and what he give emphasis on. However, he is sometimes very offensive. Doesn't care about others feelings.
