I took one philosophy class with him and it was the best course I ever had. I was looking forward to another class but he had left the college. I was so disappointed! He is a saint and a genius though he always downplayed his good qualities. His stories made you laugh and want to be a better person.

Tests and quizzes were only about quotes--not anything you actually learned. Quotes matter, yeah, but they don't tell you about anything you learned. So basically, you're memorizing nothing. Lots of reading and the textbook was hard and terrible. Long, old English, boring even for Philosophy majors. It was also an 8:30, two hour lecture. THE WORST.

Worst teacher at alma. Lots of pointless discussions, pointless lectures, and pointless reading.

I believe Dr. Stratton has a lot of knowledge about the topic. If you work hard, the classes are reasonably easy to get through.

Dr Stratton is a genius. That's plain and simple. He will expect work out of you. He will expect that you show up. If you show up, listen take decent, and do that work expected. You'll get a good grade. I can see where some might take issue with him, as they aren't used to a philosophy class. But he's one of the best for it out there. Best prof.

He is such a great professor! He always tells great stories and always makes us laugh, while he teaches us. I've had him for 2 classes, and I definitely would take more classes with him! He always keeps things interesting.

Stratton is a fun prof if you are just taking a class with him to finish off a distrib, but if you are majoring in philosophy you are screwed. He repeats the same things in every class he teaches. He apologizes everytime saying that he usually doesn't have reapeats, but it gets old. If you really want to learn and be challenged, try prof Dixon.

Stratton is the man! I love going to his classes. He goes off on tangents everyday, but I learned more during his tangens than I probably would have if he kept to a syllabus. He's very helpful if you see him after class, he puts ex. credit on every test/quiz, and his lectures are always cross-departmental so he's perfect for a liberal arts college.

Worst teacher at Alma I have had. Boring! How did he get a doctorate in anything unless it was a subject for the stupidest people in college? Tests and quizzes are either too easy or too hard. He is here for the money not for students.

The most unlikeable person I have ever met. No one in the class could stand him. His wife is nice but he has no good qualities. Maybe the college could give him some kind of job where he never has to be around people. Avoid his classes.

This guy is sort of full of himself. I think he tries to play it off like he is this really humble guy, but then he turns around and subtly talks about all the great things he's done. As for the class, we never stuck to the syllabus, and he loved trying to be controversial, only problem was nobody in our class ever took the bait. Wouldn't recommend

Stratton is great!Don't know if he is hard or not since I loved the subject but gave him a 1. His requirements were fair but could be difficult if you don't want to think or be creative. He is smart but humble and kind. He can be really funny and really serious within just a few minutes so he is emotionally demanding as he makes you think.

One of the best teachers at Alma. About S term Stratton knows more than you think. He smelled and saw behavior but without direct proof. He sadly laughed at the scammers, since ****s can't really hide. He is kind and said he didn't send you home for he HOPED you might meet the people downstairs though he thought the time for you was not right.

Weird guy. A student tried to hug him in the last course and he refused and said it was inappropriate. Will joke and laugh even at himself with students but there is always a clear line with Stratton. He is not a buddy and seems really aloof at times as if he is in another world that just touches ours at times but when he does he is real.
