Also took her for ENGL523. She had a rough time transitioning to online only classes, but she found her groove after awhile. For this class, we had 18 short response papers that made up most of our grade along with participation. They were a lot but easy to do if you read the books assigned. Really kind and understanding. Definitely recommend!

Dr. Colquitt is incredibly understanding. She can be all over the place sometimes, but she is very caring and wants her students to do well. As long as one reads the assigned texts, it is relatively easy to do well. During the pandemic, she has shifted the format of her course to no exams and more short-answer assignments, which is a God send.

Colquitt was very understanding in the online format and held engaging discussions twice a week. I would say you can skip a reading or two, but she expects everyone to participate in class so I would not advise it. The course was not on Canvas and assignments were given through email. I did not know my grade until the semester ended so be prepared.

Her first fully online semester was great! No exams, just reading responses and two essays. Class is just discussion of the reading, but she understands if you fall behind. She does individual meetings with you and goes through all your work. Just do the reading and you'll be fine!

She is a lovely lady and a lover of literature but she expects too much of you and really makes you work for your grade. Every class is just a discussion of the reading. Take notes of her comments to use on the Midterm and FInal cause they are a big part of your grade. She grades on just your Journals and The Midterm and Final so do your best.

Reading responses due once every 1-2 weeks, they're easy, but she's a tough grader. The conversations are so fun and she's very witty. You can get away w/ not reading, but you'll be very lost for the exams (easy if you read). She was all over the place this semester as she got sick a couple times, so alot was cut from syllabus. She brings snacks!!!

I love Dr. Colquitt. She is kind and understanding. She approaches literature knowing that there are no wrong answers. She is, however, disorganized and does not often get papers back in a timely manner (or at all!). Her midterms and exams are crazypants, but not impossible.

Dr. Colquitt is one of SDSU's hidden gems. She genuinely cares for her students. She brings snacks to class every day and makes an effort to make everyone feel welcome. Be prepared to read a lot, attendance/note-taking is also key; 10 journal entries throughout the semester, with a completely essay based midterm and final. Definitely take her!

The snacks she brought saved my life. Midterm & final all based on class discussions so you can pretty much pass by reading online summaries. She may seem a bit strict but she's actually very caring and understanding. Participate in class and get to know her, she's a great professor.

Sweetest and most caring professor at SDSU! She's genuinely invested in her students and wants everyone to succeed. She brings snacks to class and learns everyone's first names. She takes everyone's opinions into consideration and appreciates new perspectives. Take her if you can!

Professor Colquitt was one of the best and most caring professor's I've had so far at State. She brings snacks for students everyday. Grades are composed of take home journal entries which are graded easily, a midterm, and a final. She really cares about her students and will write you a letter of rec or be a reference if you ask. Take her!

Very loud! Yells and gets excited easily. If you answer wrong or are not paying attention she yells your name at the top of her lungs. It's pretty funny & she always brings snacks. Easy A for me because she gets behind and ended up only giving us one hw assignment out of the 10+ on her syllabus. You can miss class, but she'll just yell at you.

She's a really nice person which is why writing a review is difficult. Her teaching style is interesting at best. Not a lot of work is graded so you don't ever know where you stand. Weekly Journals are important. Midterms only cover what was discussed in class. She gets behind easily but she brings snacks!!

Very encouraging in class, and you think you're doing a great job, but you turn in a journal and get a crap grade. Very confusing. But if you read what was assigned and show up to class, you should do fine--the exams/essays are heavily reliant on what was lectured/discussed in class.

Colquitt is my favorite prof at SDSU. She is the nerdy grandma you always wanted. She cares a lot about her students & brings snacks every week in effort to end student hunger. If you have different pronouns than he/she, she wants to know so she can refer to you correctly. We read a lot, but it was fun reading. Midterm, 2 papers, and final exam.

Colquitt is one of the most caring professors at SDSU. She is always willing to help, and she does, as others say, bring snacks. She's been my favorite professor in my three years at SDSU, and I'm glad to have had her during my unfortunate circumstances. Lectures are great, she gives feedback, and sets deadlines for each part of essays. Take her.
