the test is the homework, and you get just enough homework to learn everything well without being overwhelmed. you usually get meaningful helpful feedback on the homework within a few hours. if you keep up and don't fall asleep for too long you'll get all the information you need

Does very well at directing the information you need to use and adjusting his schedule according to yours. A ton of homework and a high maintenance course overall. Feedback is ok? it may be difficult to figure out what your doing wrong in most cases. Never comes to class on time so whatever time you begin, tack on 15 minutes. Would take again.

Always helpful. He's busy, but he cares about those who also care for his class. Definitely a solid choice as a professor. He is very knowledgeable, and has a lot of experience.

This class is HARD! Expect to do tons of homework and studying for quizzes and exams. Thermo is hard regardless of who you take it with, Davis is a fantastic teacher and you will learn from him. Expect to work for your grade in this class.

He is the most amazing professor I've ever had. I took a seminar with him on wiper blade structural design and was inspired. His ability to explain things - included proper caliper use - is unrivaled.

Davis went very hard on our thermo dynamics class. The tests were grueling for us with the average for most of them hovering at a D. The homework is about a half hour per problem and there is usually around 8 problems. Make sure to do it though, if you don't do not expect to pass. He seemed pretty noce, and was apologetic by the end of the class.

I thought Davis was great. Really loves what he does and teaches which benefits the class. Tests are not that bad, just study the material and make sure you understand it. If not, ASK QUESTIONS! On the tests he is a picky grader. But he cares more about what you know than the right answer which in my opinion is great for the likes of Kettering.

This professor wasted about 6 weeks in the beginning of the term. Little homework, missed several classes. We never used GTPower. And now in the last week of class he's crammed as much into his lecture as possible. I can no longer keep up and we had 2 homeworks, a lab, and a final project assigned 10th week. It was infuriating.

Had Davis for Thermo and Intro to Powertrain, explained both subjects very well. Extremely knowledgeable in both subjects and willing to work with students. Course is a lot of work and he is very picky about how reports are written. Labs were usually done on open road with personal vehicles, utilizing pretty cool electronics for data collection.

Knows the subject very well. Often times preoccupied with other things which is frustrating but also translates into soft due dates. Report writing is hard and I spent long hours writing, but it definitely helped me professionally. Labs were difficult but interesting and I learned a lot.

Prof Davis is very knowledgeable on the subject, and has "been there done that" in many cases. However, he is up to 20 minutes late to class EVERY time and sometimes teaches very scatterbrained. Great to talk to outside of class and very helpful in office hours though.

Thermo, was not very fun. He is very tardy and hard to understand. Didn't realize finals was going to be on material learned 2 days before. Study the cycles!!! Not the best professor, spread to thin with SAE work and thesis projects..

Professor Davis did a great job explaining the material, and although he wasn't as easy to find as I had hoped, he was more than fair with his grading and tried to make it so everyone in our class would pass and get a good grade. He's extremely knowledgeable about Thermo, he actually did it for a living. I would definitely take him if you can.

For a basic engineering class like Thermo, he wasn't the greatest professor. Nice guy and I think he knows the material but seemed to have other priorities. He didn't come to class on time and sometimes didn't have class at all but a substitute a few times. If he came to class and on time and at his office hours, he would be a good professor.

One of the best profs at KU. He really cares about the students and wants you learn the material. He is very knowledgeable about the material and has tons of real world experience to back it up. It was a very time consuming class, but I learned a ton that I can actually apply at work. He will go out of his way to help you and is an over great guy.

Davis is one of the best professors at KU. He really cares and wants his students to learn but does have some downsides. He is almost impossible to find outside of class, the assignments and labs are pretty long and easy to make mistakes on, and he grades pretty tough. In the end I think he curves b/c I got a better grade than I thought I would.

Made the material interesting. Tests & hwk were a bit tricky. He had a student grader and they were harsh. Very little partial credit. I heard that has gotten better though. Online quizzes were usually simple. I did OK and probably would take him again.

This professor took up more of my time than any other class with his ELECTIVE course! The lab reports (4) each ended up being 16-22 pages, and we followed his guidelines and still got an 80 average on them. His homework is very tough and takes HOURS for each of the 5 assignments. He lectures for the whole 2 hours, no break, and he runs long!

One of the best prof's here. Not an easy grader. If you just want a 100 with out learning anything look up Ubong. If you are looking to learn, or even a way to study better, Davis is by far one of the most consistant, fair, and caring prof. Hard to find at times, but always willing to help you learn.
