Very helpful and informative class. There is a lot of reading but they will enhance your understanding of topics and why there is conflict in the world. Enjoyed his easygoing humor and personality. Be prepared to do a lot of reading but totally worth it for understanding political- religious strife.

Overall not so hard, however this guy is the lamest person on earth. Very boring class and at the end he confuses you about Islam. On his tests he asks stuff that google doesn't have the answer for. I have no clue how he got hired. STAY AWAY IF POSSIBLE

easiest class of my life. However, I almost gave up so many times because it is also THE most BORING class you will ever have!! He goes off topic and his tests have NOTHING to do with what you've been learning/reading. But whatever, he curved everything and since we all failed.. then we basically all passed. :D

I thought I would hate this class but I actually enjoyed it a lot. There is a ton of reading and videos but they are all really interesting. Swayd is very funny and class was always entertaining. Test questions are mostly based off of the lecture outlines he gives you, so make sure you pay close attention to them when studying. Highly recommend!

The material is awesome. The videos are really good--he makes you think about things you don't usu think about. You gotta go to class, and you gotta do the readings, but why else would you sign up to take a class if you didn't want to go? Enjoy.

Very sweet man and wants you to do well. Don't know how I got an A in the class because lectures were usually boring and I didn't do much of the reading. Gives participation/EC for discussions (most post on BB). BS'd a 7 pg paper and got an A on it. Thought I did terrible but I somehow managed an A. Will help if you ask for it

You can tell he really cares about the students and the material. He's super nice and tries to help students to do as well as they can, even when he knows they don't really do the readings. If you're going to take any religion class at SDSU he's the professor to take!

Best professor at SDSU! had him for rel310 last year and boy did he spark my interest in religion. he regularly engages students in class during lectures & u get the feeling he really does care about his students, hes a little difficult to understand sometimes but thats bc hes too smart for the students. read the texts, study for exams and listen!

He's pretty difficult to understand, both what he says and how he says it. His lectures are often boring and his points unclear. You have to be interested in the subject or it will be boring. Req's a lot of reading, but I barely did any and got a B. He DOES care about his students, try to get 1-on-1 time w/ him. And tests/assignments aren't hard.

I have taken him for three classes, 101, 310, and 376. He is very knowledgeable and his class works in a way that lets you learn exactly how much you want to learn. He assigns boatloads of reading, but knows nobody does read it all and his tests are mostly on lecture to compensate for that. Good Professor, and he is pretty funny too.

I try to look positive at all teachers, but with Swayd it's hard! He's very random and his tests don't correlate well to his lectures. He must have had an amazing curve because I failed the first exam and got a C on the second, and somehow pulled a solid B. He cares though, go to office hours! If you're an honors student take Mary Kelly, seriously.

Professor Swayd knows what he is talking about however he is very hard to understand. He tries to be funny during the lectures and sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt. He assigns random videos that make you more confused than anything else.

This class is awful. He assigns so much textbook reading and hours of random videos that make no clear connection to the course material. His study guides tell you to know everything, so you never no anything well enough to do well on a test. Unapproachable, biased, hates christains, americans, Psychology majors. ABSOLUTE worst class I've ever take

Everyone who says he is difficult or doesn't make sense is saying that because they are below average intelligence. You guys are right, the Ph.D. from UCLA doesn't know what he is talking about, its the half retarded undergrad from SDSU that is the authority on religious studies and Islam. If you pay attention and do the work you will learn a lot

One of the worst professors I have ever had to endure. He lectures on opinion, nothing more. His "facts" are really his point of view. I didn't learn anything in this class.

PLEASE spare yourself and take this class with someone else if you can. Lectures were all over the place and hard to understand. Quizzes were all about statistics that were barely mentioned (if at all) in class. I got a good grade, so I'm not just saying this because I'm mad that I got a bad grade. Easy A if you don't mind wasting your time.

Terrible Teacher. I was very interested in religion before this class, Swayd would ramble on in a confusing accent about irrelevant things, not really a religion course but a mash of random stuff. very confusing, had to watch tons of random youtube videos for hw. tested on obscure facts barely mentioned in class, no one knew course req. for quizes

The class was interesting, the text book was too but the tests sucked because you'd read all these pages and turns out the tests have 20 questions and its on the smallest facts and terms and not on important concepts from the book. It was an okay class
