Professor Raja was, and is my favorite math teacher. He is hilarious and dangerously smart. I learned more math from him than any other teacher. Yes it was a hard class, but he helped me understand the under workings of each problem and got me through calc! Honestly, I've never been good at math, and I was still able to get As both semesters.

Most difficult class I have ever taken. So hard to understand his writing the only way you can see it is if you sit all the way in the front. Save yourself the money and time.

This was the hardest math class I have taken. However, It is the class in which I got most out of. The professor it is old school. Calculators are not allowed. If your Algebra is not good, you are going to struggle. Make sure you go to his office hours. He helps you a lot. I went every week and learned that math is not hard at all. He is very smart

Pay attention during lecture, always be there, and be on time because he is not scared of calling you out on lame excuses. He can come off as rude, but he cares about his students and has very high expectations. As long as you do your homework, as questions, and meet him you'll be fine! Don't take things personally and focus on working hard.

He knows how to get his students to understand the math. In HS, calc was not my brightest subject but Rajah was able to break it down in a way that I understood but you need to be good at algebra. His notes are easy to follow and help you understand how the math works. He doesn't really show it but he cares about his students. Funny guy as well.

You really need to know your algebra in order to pass this class. It was not easy for me , you cannot use a calculator and it was too much homework with unclear lectures. If you do not know you algebra and cannot handle the class without using a calculator do not take this class with this teacher.

I learned a lot from this teacher in 2 of his classes. He shows you how to do every problem and he gives multiple examples until everyone in class understands. However, he's really old fashioned, so you can't use a calculator and all your work must be perfect or you'll receive no points. You must know your basics, but he'll help you if you don't.

CONS: No calculators allowed, no partial credit on test problems, no extra credit, no homework credit, no study guide, no website, heavy emphasis on algebra, and he assigns HW on new material before testing on old material. So if you dont get it right away, you're in trouble. PROS: I can officially do math without a calculator.

Not an easy class... but do you or don't you want to be challenged in college? If your algebra isn't good, you WILL struggle, however if you go to office hours and invest the time and effort, you WILL make it. Prof Rajah makes you work for your grade- something I happen to value. Any negative review is likely from someone who wants a free ride.

Rajah makes it clear from the start that your algebra must be strong. If math isn't your thing this will be a difficult course, since he expects you to know quite a bit. Do the HW and ask questions. Sit close to the board, his handwriting is small. It's not impossible to pass the course. I've taken calc & stats with him, and would take him again.

I personally think he is too rough on his students. He needs to learn that not every student can automatically be a math genius. He needs to stop being a harsh grader seriously. It's not going to help the students at all. If I was him, I would be a bit more friendly towards the students. Nothing personal against him tho. Just an honest review.

Rajah is a great guy he helped me stay motivated to try the whole semester. Tests are tough, he has no grade distribution, your grade is based ONLY on tests. Hw is assigned but no credit is given if it is done. Overall the class was great just his philosophy for grading is cruel. Take him if you want a teacher that cares if you learn.

Hardest math class I've taken, but best professor at MiraCosta. He goes at the pace of the class and not at the pace of a course outline.I've Taken him for all my math classes, he will answer every question you have and if you go to his office hours once a month he'll give you an extra 15 percent of your total points at the end of the semester.

Very harsh grader. If you make one little mistake on a test question he grades the entire question wrong. Test's are up to 7 pages long. He is helpful in office hours, but unless you're an expert at math I would not recommend taking him. It will save you the headache. Also very unclear about what is going to be on tests. Also writes too small.

Beware: if your algebra is meh you'll most likely drop out. My class started with 40 and ended with 14. He's intimidating, but he eases up later on. HW is essential to passing. Rajah is helpful and fair, he grades off a curve and adds EC to the final, he has office hours, go to them. One of the best profs i've had even though i hate math.

Comment:
Don't take his class seriously. He writes WAY too small on the board and he won't even make it bigger. Also he lied about material being on a test he SPECIFICALLY told us after the first test the material on the second test will be different. But guess what, on the second test the material was EXACTLY like the first one on the test. Don't take him.
