Really nice. Makes class entertaining and makes it a non-stressful experience. Tests are really easy, and all you have to do are discussions and questions. Cares about students and getting to know them better, but does discuss information related to the readings as well.

Professor Phan might be the single best professor at Pitt. He forms real relationships with his students and creates a space to genuinely learn. The class material is interesting and lectures are fun. I have taken professor Phan a couple times and have had nothing but incredible learning experiences in each of his courses.

Tyler is a good prof. He is funny (in my opinion) and explains things if needed. However, he was kind of hold and cold about a lot of things, changing due dates and contradicting what he said. He gave an extra credit opportunity that was a ton of work, but it was worth a lot of points. Overall, a good prof and easy class.

Tyler is a great professor who really cares about and listens to his students. Weekly summaries of readings (2-5 readings per week, 25-60 pages each) and 2 big essays make up the majority of your grade. We discuss the readings and overall topics they cover in class. Tyler will make you want to question issues that you never thought about.

This class is amazing. Tyler is amazing. He truly knows so much about what he teaches about and that's what makes lectures so amazing to attend. His discussions are actually thought provoking and engaging; I learned so much just by listening to him talk. Also- he is hilarious. TAKE THIS CLASS.

Comment:
Tyler is a good guy, but his lecture skills are pretty awful. He just blows through definitions and refuses to slow down claiming that "the lectures are recorded so I don't need to slow down," yet there is a half hour left each class to talk about random stuff. If he could learn to slow down and be more understanding, he'd be good.

Literally my favorite professor I've ever had. This class was so much fun. He truly cares about what we all have to say and genuinely wants to know what are thoughts are on the subject at hand. I've never had more fun/learned more in a college class.

Tyler is great! His lectures are always interesting. They're mostly just big discussions with him and whoever wants to say something. Weekly journals, and two papers make up your grade. He is very lenient with grading and gives feedback when needed! Cares about his students and is always there to help.

You'll never be disappointed when you are in the presence of Tyler. He's hilarious and he makes anthro fun. Go to class and recitation to learn what's on the exam, then study the day of the exam to get an A. Easy gen ed fulfillment.

Dr. Phan is great. His class is designed for your success. Show up to class, no participation required. His lectures are always interesting and the assignments are once weekly journals 3-500 words each. No exams and 2 easy essays, graded with a lot of leniency. Group project was basically completionA. Definitely take this class for Gen Ed Reqs.

Tyler is nice but super unorganized and it makes class stressful. He is constantly changing the schedule, assignments, etc. and it makes it hard to keep track of what you're supposed to be doing. He is lenient to a fault so that it makes assignments stressful. He is very nice and the material is very interesting, but he gets off topic easily.

One of my favorite professors by far. No tests or quizzes, just weekly journals, 2 v. EASY essays, and a group project which is also easy. Directions can be difficult to follow but just ask and he will clear things up and is very lenient. lectures are interesting and his life story is amazing when he goes on tangents. definitely take!

Tyler Phan is one of my favorite professors at Pitt . He makes lectures fun to attend and listen to through his entertaining stories and perspectives on life. He teaches you more than just class material through his own experiences. The grading material is straightforward and he grades fairly. I am looking for more classes of his to take!

The tests were super easy if you just memorized the vocabulary words on the study guides. The lectures are basically just a vocab word and definition on the screen and then Prof Phan relating it to personal experiences. He is funny and seems really nice though. Overall, this is a pretty easy A.

Tyler Phan is great. If you pay attention to his lectures, you don't have to study to get an A in this class. He offers a huge extra credit assignment. You don't have to read the readings as long as you write down what he says about them during class.

Dr. Phan was funny, intelligent, and overall a great professor. I always looked forward to coming to lecture, which is definitely a must since his exams are very lecture-heavy. He was entertaining and explained otherwise difficult concepts in an understandable and relatable way. Show up to class and do the readings and you'll get an A+.
