Nargangs class was one of my favourites! He only tested on the material that were in his notes, and he wrote notes out during class, making it easy to copy and not be rushed and miss anything. His notes were crystal clear and easy to follow along.Have to attend class, but very fair prof. Midterm was ridiculously easy, and final was fair :)recommend

Monotone? Yes. Excellent teacher and very fair tests? Yes. If you're priority to is find a class where attendance isn't necessary, don't pick this one. If you want to do more than scrape by doing the minimum, please take this professor. He is great, clear, and albeit a bit boring, he prepares you with what you need to know.

Intensely boring prof. I'm not entirely sure how anyone can get through his class without drifting off into space. I suppose his tests were alright, but his voice is like a drone and he sounds like he never answers a question confidently.

OMG I LOVE DR. NARGANG! He tests only from his notes - NO TEXTBOOK MATERIAL! His notes are very comprehensive and he always answers questions during and after lectures. He does not post notes so you NEED to attend lectures. Midterm and final are easy if you have all his notes! Probably the BEST and most FAIR prof for an intro bio course.

I DREADED going to his lectures. It was so BORING and there so much writing. All class we'd be writing and writing and listening to his boring explanations. The notes provided were very clear and he's a very friendly guy but his class is so stale. Midterm and Final were easy in my opinion.

Honestly if I took this course first year probably would have failed it but I was taking it second year and was prepared requires a fair amount, of which I put in. The lab final is hard keep in mind this is weighted more than your midterm, and midterm and final were reasonable. Know his notes from class and diagrams from textbook.

Frank is the most bland person I have ever met. Fair midterm, and a ridiculously hard midterm. Classes are boring and your hand WILL ache afterwards. Honestly, avoid him at ALL costs. I used to love biology.. Not any more.

He's actually a pretty good prof. His notes are clear and understandable and they explain things very well. If you pay attention in class, then you should be fine. Exams are fair and test straight from the notes. The only downside is that he can be a bit boring and monotonous, but overall, a great prof!

LOTS OF WRITING. Imagine being in class for an hour and 20 minutes and you spend 1 hour and 18 minutes of it writing. His tests are extremely hard but not crazy. Class average on the midterm was 66%ish so its pretty standard. Despite all the intense work you have to do in class, he is a friendly guy and very approachable. Notes not laptop friendly.

Horrible Prof, hand writes all the notes, writing is messy and he has a monotone voice..hard to stay awake in his class and shows no interest in teaching. Spends whole lecture writing and speaking monotone...highly wouldn't reccomend unless you're calling for failure

Probably the most boring, bland, monotone person I've ever met. Never managed to answer a question in class without a "possibly or perhaps" in the answer to make it vague. Boring subject I guess, but he doesn't make it any better.

He is an outstanding prof.Notes and explanations are very clear. Very helpful in answering questions as well. Only need the textbook for the diagrams he references. Midterm is easy (just memorization), final is a bit harder, but both are very fair and test only from the notes. Only con: he doesn't post notes on eclass so attendance is mandatory.

Very straightforward and to the point. Must come to class since he writes all notes on an overhead. Very monotonous voice; doesn't hold interest. Half the class was asleep. A few assigned textbook readings but you shouldn't buy it if you can borrow one. Exams are fair and challenging. Overall not a bad prof but very boring.

Very straight forward and to the point. Attendance is a must, all notes were overheads. Textbook is minimal, could get away with an e-text/older version? as he only uses diagrams from them. MEMORIZE HIS NOTES. that's all he testes on, and a few assigned readings (1-2 pages) and it's an easy course.

Very nice guy, helpful if you need him to clarify something. Entire lecture spent copying down his notes but they're all you need. Occasionally he'll indicate that you need to reference the textbook (must do! but its usually only one page reading or a diagram) b/c he won't cover it in lecture. Exams were fair.

Comment:
His notes were really good, clear and understandable. There was a lot of writing/ notes and they aren't posted online, but as long as you follow along in class, it's not too bad. He is super friendly and helpful. Exams were really clear and fair, not too difficult if you study the notes.
