Amazing prof and amazing person. She is very patient and doesn't mind explaining things more than once. She encouraged the class to look at the news and be up to date. The tests were a bit tricky, but the course would always be the highlight of my day!

I wouldn't take a class from her again. I found she made me feel bad for getting things wrong. I received a low mark in the class and after seeing a tutor i found that I was losing way more marks than I should on small mistakes that had nothing to do with the course material.

She is erratic in class. if she is in a good mood the class will go well if not it will not go well. She does not explain well, often expect you to know things not covered and not always in the textbook, often jumps ahead and has things on tests that were never covered in class. asks alot of cultural questions that are irrelivent to the class.

Great prof. Very clear, always willing to help students with any issues, and she seems to be genuinely happy to teach which makes the class more enjoyable for everyone. I'd recommend her to anyone taking French 100.

She's a pretty hard marker and expects alot from each of her students. Yet, she pushes you and I found I learned alot from this class, possibly more than my four years of high school french. She gives alot of homework, which sometimes seems unreasonable. She is super nice unless you're late, and is always willing to help. Overall, great french prof

Lois is a great prof. She uses tons of examples in classwork. Do all the readings before coming to class, or you will need to catch up. Marks grammer and spelling hard, but for good reasons. She is very approachable, and offers help when needed. Also, she likes it when you use the free tutorial sessions, and lab attendence to show you are trying.

Lois was a very good prof. At the beginning of this class I believed I was out of place in this class. She inspired me to stay in the class and I got a lot out of it. Be prepared to speak ONLY FRENCH even when she explains grammar. However, she is a strict marker.

Definitely approachable in and out of class. Likes when you ask questions. She often speaks everything in french which is confusing and flustering. Sometimes the amount of material she assigns is overwhelming. Make sure you study because she always begins a class by asking students things from the homework. Not a bad marker.

Lois is the nicest prof!! She takes a bottom-up approach - grammar first, then conversation - which I'm sure annoys some people. Sure her classes are hard and have lots of homework, but language classes are ALWAYS hard and have lots of homework. Besides, the homework isn't mandatory. If you keep up, you'll do great in her classes.

Tries really hard to cram the required amount of material into a very short time frame, but ended up with a lot of material covered only partially. Talks to students like they are children. Frequently uses subjective questions on tests but will alter them if you make a fuss. Very helpful if you ask questions.

I would not recommend this prof to anyone who likes french. The text book is supplimentary to class and I spent most of my semester self teaching myself french. My money would have been better spent on a Rossetta Stone CD. Likes to treat her students like small children. She does not listen when a student is asking questions.

This class is hard, it has a lot of content. Lois is very good a explaining however she can be a little bit rushed and impatient because there is a lot of material to cover. If you take this class, make sure you have lots of time at home to cover the material and do HW.

Lois is a good prof, but sometimes overestimates how much of her speaking we understand. I often found myself wondering "what did she say" (she speaks 95% of the instructions of the FIRST WEEK OF CLASSES in French, I mean come on, give us a chance!)

Lois gives lots of homework and totaly guilts you into coming to class, she acts like she is personaly insulted and very disappointed in you if you do poorly on something. At first I thought I just sucked at French, but by the end I felt like it didn't matter how hard I tried she was still going to give me a near fail.

1st. the placement test put me in the wrong class.Lois said it should have been 114. This class sucks. She uses webct too much, and you waste time working with partners. Labs are a joke. Everything I learned, I taught myself from the books. Lois is nice, and can even be cool. Still, this class will haunt me all summer.

Ignore the other FR 113 entry, he did talk way too much! Lois is a nice person, very accomating and willing to help, but this class was a let-down for me. I thought there would be more speaking (in French) in this class. She gives lots of homework, but it's self-correcting and very time-consuming. My next FR class will be with a francophone prof.

Lois is alright. She's preaty nice and helpful, like she always gives us information on things going on and puts things on WebCT and such. She cares about things (she asked us for comments on if the labs/seminars were going ok). Sometimes I find her annoying and rude but usually she's just trying to get me to shut up so others can talk so that's ok

very very nice lady, however doesnt realize the fact that 95% of students take french as a requirement, personally I find it a retarded language but if you must take a class I would recommend her she is very nice and willing to go the extra mile to help you
