Tony Loviscek is the epitome of commitment to student success. I've been an undergraduate and a graduate student at various schools at SHU, and he is by far the most student oriented professor I have had. He has the perfect combination of intellectual brilliance, humility, and vocation of service. I would take him again and I totally recommend him.

Tony is not perfect but does care about his students and their personal success, something I cannot say about many professors here. When he lectures, he does go over the homework problems and shows you how to do it. At times, he can get confusing but if you ask him, he is extremely helpful. Also, more than happy to tell you about his experiences.

Tony is by far one of the best Finance professors, EVER - my undergad was finance and so is my MBA, so I've had plenty of finance professors. I really don't understand how there are negative comments about him. He's extremely helpful, knowledgeable, my 401K is doing outstandingly well since taking his class and doing some analysis on my own.

There is a difference between this man and everyone else. Everything he says comes from his practical knowledge of the subject. The guy not only teaches it, but he lives it. If you want knowledge which can translate into real world success, this is your man. He is not easy, but well worth your time. I would pay just to listen to him speak.

Seton Hall has a handful of professors that are truly worth their weight in gold, Tony is on this list. Presents the material in a clear and concise fashion that brings the subject to a level that even the non-finance individuals can understand. He is always available and eager to help. Kudo's to T.L., it's all about the Beta.

I took Tony for a finance qualifier this december and loved him. his online classes were enthusiastic and his booklet crystal clear. I bothered him with emails and he always answered helpfully. I dont know why people have an issue with him, its not him who is dull its the finance major overall. He actually translates finance into human lingo.

why do people write that Tony "cares for students?" As a student, who wants to be "cared for?" Maybe those students should be psychology majors instead.

The most enthusiastic teacher I've had. Tony is very knowledgeable and experienced in the field of finance yet not afraid to tell you he doesn't have all the answers. He teaches in an understandable language by relating concepts to everyday scenarios. He was one of my favorite professors.

yes, he gives of his time generously. but his time isn't worth anything so who cares? He is a complete joke. his "experience" consists of his own pathetic trading. his class is like play-time in middle school. actually, given that he stays popular by ONLY giving takehome exams, i bet a middle-schooler could pass the same was many pass: cheating!

IF you want to be in the business world, DON'T take Tony. Yes he cares but he hasn't done anything and has no practical knowledge. WHO CARES ABOUT STOCK PICKING? Thats all he knows....and nobody cares except for people who just want to be entertained.

Comment:
Please stop catering to the underacheivers. The rest of the school says its ok to reward mediocrity, but you don't have to. Lead the department in a NEW direction - one that is rigorous. Turn over control to the profs who are young & know what they are doing. you can take care of admin for them, but start listening to those with fresh ideas.
