I took her class this fall and enjoyed it. There was no midterm which greatly reduces the stress load when writing midterms for other classes. My advice would also be to work on the seminar assignments way ahead of the due dates, so you don't have to worry about finishing them when your other classes get busy. Very clear criteria for grading.

Took her online class and was shocked with the workload required. In my opinion, she grades with a seemingly passive aggressive nature that is neither constructive nor conducive to her students' growth. This class was more demanding than any other of my first year classes by far. Overall, wouldn't take another class with her again.

I really liked this class and Sherris way of delivering it. I dont think it was too much reading or material, it was just lots of assignments that were pretty easy to do. Great first year class and recommend doing it online. The final was fair as well, multiple choice and short answer, followed by an essay. All open book, online at your home.

the course load is way too heavy. Because it was an online class, you have to find plenty of time to do the reading for seminar and write essays. it's suppose to be 100 level course, introductory course but she marks really hard and she seems to forget most people are taking 4 more classes along with this course!

Comment:
This is the heaviest course load for a 3-credit class that I have ever taken, and I did a 4-year B. Admin before this. I was shocked at the time and effort required to do well in this class. The material was interesting though. Lectures online were text-based so prepare to do a lot of reading: textbook, online lectures and multiple articles.

INDG107 Felt more like an English class based on the assignments and they way they're marked. Ie. losing marks for reference being on wrong side of period. But feedback on assignments is very helpful & she is a good fair marker. Class content was interesting, but not necessary to read modules to do assignments. Final exam online & open book.

This class was extremely easy. The work-load wasn't unbearable like everyone is making it seem. There were 12 modules, 5 readings and 2 essays, which would be similar to any other university humanity class. Sheryl always responded quickly but took awhile to give essays back.

Easy but VERY heavy work load for first year class! Final exam is not FINAL, although it is open book and fairly easy if you keep up with the key terms and concepts and review questions throughout the semester. Have to write a 4 page essay after the final, worth 10% of the 35% final mark. I learned a lot in this class, but I would avoid if you can.

Online class has more to read because the lectures are written but my best friend takes a regular class and the assignments are the same. Our online discussions are 7 days but don't have to post every day. Good class -gives good feedback on essays.

She is very kind, and I love that she gives a great deal of instructions for the assignments. However, the course load is unrealistic as there is simply too much to go through when you have OTHER classes. I don't understand why she has a hard time realizing this. The lectures (from my experience with the class, this may change) feel like a novel.

This course has a tone of work. I think she forgets that students may be taking another 5 classes. Having to actively participate in a discussion for 7 days takes a lot of work when you schedule is full. The course is somewhat interesting and very informative.

The online version of her Native Studies (107) is terribly boring and bland compared to most other social study areas. This course could have it's information arranged in a way that didn't make you want to fall asleep.

Great! Kept the class interesting by using videos and group discussions. Did not use a text book, which was nice because it allowed me to save some money. Frankly told the class what was needed to know by providing a few slides at the end of each class (which were sent to you prior in a fill in the blank format) and her tests were never sneaky!

This online class was a bit of a mess. The lectures were poorly written (inappropriate tone) and sourced. Comments and grading was often unclear or contradictory. I like Sherri, learned a lot, and received an excellent mark but this class was sloppy and frustrating. Also: participate fully in class discussions for an easy 19% of your grade.

Final was exceedingly long for a 3 credit course. It was in 2 sections and ate up my study time for other finals. The course consisted of at least a third more work than any other class I've ever had. I was slightly disappointed, but not surprised that only one view point was ever presented in the course.

Super tough class... Her grading is really tough on essays. I get 80% on my English essays and in this class, I get 60% on the essays. Essays take on a huge part of the grade, so beware!

Great class, Sherri is a great teacher but strict. There's no mid term and two essay's. The final was alot of writing. The marking is very tough. I usually get 80's on papers and I got 60's in this class, so that sucked. However, the information was very relevant and important. I am glad that I took the class, but it did bring my average down.

She is a very good prof. Her directions are very clear and she will help you on your essays if you require it. As long as you do the work your mark will reflect it.
