He's a dry lecturer. Nothing he lectures about is mandatory since all the quizzes and exams are based on his PowerPoints and commentaries. There are a number of abstracts you have to write, one large paper on a play you watch, and two exams. Class was pretty straightforward. Nice guy.

Caneday is one of the best professors at UNW, but he will expect you to participate in discussion. He often says "You learn more on accident than on purpose in my classes," because you learn so much beyond the content of the course. He's a great guy.

Asks questions in quizzes/tests that were not covered in lecture or discussion and were barely covered in the textbook; you will not pass the class if you don't read it. The whole class is struggling with his quizzes, but he has no sympathy for us. He goes on off-topic rants about serious current events and doesn't allow any other viewpoints.

A project assigned to illustrate answers to hundreds of detailed questions about Mark. The project took 4 hours a day by itself, and I still needed 2nd person to finish on time! Caneday argued Hebraic word's meaning, with THE top 3 Hebraic scholar in the world, that Israel asks for by name! Arrogant. Wants too much done in too little time!

Worst Professor I have ever had. His quizzes are awful. His questions are way too detailed. He tries to fit a 16 week course into an 8 week course.

Comment:
Quizzes are ridiculous. Lots of dissection of literary styles and no real texture in understanding about what being a christian really is. I feel like its setting us up for some legalistic point of view to define our faith. It reinforces the UNW bubble of perfection and luke warm christian living while the real world awaits. Science majors avoid.

I thoroughly enjoyed Caneday's class, and he did a great job at explaining the importance of learning language. On top of that, he is super reasonable and is great at explaining the meaning of various rules. He is also nice in that he doesn't make you memorize every grammar rule, he just asks that you understand them.

LOTS OF BUSY WORK!! If you like pop-quizzes, tons of reading, and lectures that can get off track, then he is definitely for you! He can go on some interesting, off-subject rants though.

If you want the chance to fall asleep in class every time, Caneday is your man. Extremely boring lectures and gives very hard quizzestests. Goes off on many tangents and rants... depending on the class, mine was good content but not the way he delivered it. All in all, he's a nice guy but not my favorite professor at unw...

He has been my favorite Bible Prof. He is so wise and intelligent. You ask him a question and he could talk for an hour on the subject. He is also approachable and is more than willing to answer questions. Some kids don't understand him or are bored, but by reading the assignments given, it makes it a lot easier to follow along. Great at lecture.

A pretty good teacher, but he expects you to remember many details and read between the lines. Instead of quizzing or testing you on the main concepts, he likes to pick out little things like specific verses that you should remember and what corresponds to it. I liked listening to him teach as he was a good teacher, but not taking his tests/quizzes

Very academic and quite verbose. Opinionated and enjoys debate but rarely willing to concede agreement with the other side--even if they have a good point. Gives thorough explanations and challenging work that makes you think--in a good way. Tough grader.
