Tests were very meticulous, lots of memorization required. Felt more like a 200 or 300 level. If you can memorize a lot, then you will get a good mark on quizzes. Lots of reading including module and textbook. Film analysis was difficult to hit her expectations. On the plus side, only 1 textbook, very informative prof, passionate about WGST.

I just got back an essay that had a grading rubric as a letter system, but filled in with numbers instead. didn't have any numbered grading rubric. The exams are so hard, and she changes around wording based on what's in textbook.

Incredible class. Darlene loves to see an interest in the material and encourages you to have fun and be creative with the assignments, which were genuinely interesting. No final, but there are three decent sized tests that you need to study for. Textbooks aren't required if attending class, but can be used for the assignments. Posts Slides online.

I would not recommend Darlene at all. The feedback she leaves on projects is never constructive criticism, it is straight out rude comments insulting your knowledge and skills. She likes to remind us of her academic achievements which can come off elitist at times. Her instructions are very unclear and lectures are extremely boring/hard to read.

She is such a wonderful lady. Her class is difficult, however, I can't wait to take my next course with her. She is so generous and very knowledgeable. The University of Regina is lucky to have her. She is honestly such a gem. She takes the time to give you constructive criticism back on assignments, but it is never demeaning. She is simply awesome

Nice lady, accommidating. Very hard class. So much work. Her instructions are very hard to follow. Nothing is straight forward. I found myself reading over the instructions over and over trying to comprehend them.

Darlene is so caring, and a really amazing professor. Her lectures can feel a bit long and winded and sometimes confusing but she will help you in anyway she can to understand the lecture material.

Only assignments were a reading response, book review, case study, and the final exam. There is TONS of content to learn. If you are considering taking WGST 200 without taking WGST 100 first, think again. That's what I did and I regret it. Darlene is very nice but the course is very wordy and hard to process.

Darlene is a pretty good prof. Her lectures are super heavy so prepare to take lots of notes. However, she really cares about her students and is very generous in giving marks. There were 3 "quizzes" (mini midterms), one paper, and no final. Go to class because she takes attendance and counts it towards your final grade. I would recommend this prof

Darlene is a great prof. You can tell she is extremely passionate about the topics she teaches. There are 3 midterms, and one paper, no final. For the midterms you basically have to memorize the slides. The book used in class was useless.

Her lectures could get pretty boring and I found it hard to know what exactly to study for the midterms. However, she marks extremely easy. Three midterms, a case study, participation marks, and no final. She is very knowledgable of the subject and it is clear she cares about her students and wants them to succeed. Would take this prof again!

Lectures were tough to follow. Started taking a laptop for notes which helped(could google things on the side). She uses complicated language and sometimes doesn't explain the event/concept fully enough. Exams were fairly easy and she is a VERY generous marker. Would take her again after learning more about it first.

Darlene was awesome, lectures were scattered sometimes but you won't do well in the class without them. Take notes on her powerpoint slides. Tests were hard to study for but marked fairly easily. Overall pretty good professor and enjoyable class!

A tough course, but made a lot better by having a great instructor. I would take her class again. Papers make you think, and you have much reading to do; but she explains difficult concepts with ease.

Darlene will challenge you because she gives A LOT of information in her lectures. You will not get a strong mark if you do not attend class and ask questions (should anything be unclear). She also takes attendance for participation marks. That said, she's extremely passionate and it was an absolute pleasure to take her class. FANTASTIC.

Her 100-level was amazing. She spiced up the otherwise (could be) dull historical subject matter by theming everything we looked at. Other than taking her class, I have seen her speak publicly on a few different topics and she is so knowledgeable on everything (no lie). She is a little tough with marking, but it is to be expected at the 100-level.

Darlene is very knowledgeable, and overall a good professor. She's pretty funny and definitely passionate. Marks consist of no final exam, just 3 tests, a case study and participation. Readings aren't necessary, but helpful. If you want a good mark, you better know your stuff. Getting in the 90's in hard but not impossible.
