Take good notes in lectures, put in effort for the group projects, participate a bit in class, and this course will be a breeze. I genuinely learned so much from Professor Rees, his content is interesting and truly invaluable in my major and in the grand scheme of modern day issues. Would definitely recommend him, hes a gem.

no need for textbook, but the atlas is needed. Rees has a thick accent, hard to understand at times. Quizzes are IMPOSSIBLE and the tests are borderline ridiculous. He doesn't write anything on the slide so you have to pay close attention. He's a good guy but his class is way hard for a 100 level course. NOT a GPA booster..

his accent is thick and you can't always understand him. 5 mini tests that are near impossible. the first test isn't bad but the second is a slap to the face. final exam is in the absolute last time period. lectures are boring and mandatory

Prof. Rees is one knowledgeable man. Can't really find something he doesn't know of. I learned a ton from his course. Mini tests are not easy. Exams are somewhat hard. But he'll curve at the end of the semester. Got a C+ for the midterm and ended up with a B+. If he didn't curve, I would only get a B-. Make sure you take perfect notes!!

Very good prof. but very very VERY HARD exams and quiz. Got C+ in this class. You need to not only remember the lecture but also understand the map. Try your best. It's not the hardest but almost one of them.

The professor is nice and enthusiastic, but this course is really hard. A lot of details are in it. Tests will cover almost all details he mentioned in his lectures. You have FOCUS every minute in his class. As a breath elective class, that is too tired.

Words cannot describe how much I love Professor Rees. He's hilarious when you're least expecting, and he basically roasts people after group projects in the least-mean way possible. Clearly knows what he's talking about. Lectures can be a tad boring, but not terribly so. Effort on projects and papers is well-rewarded.

I went abroad (to Barbados) with Peter. Definitely knows his stuff. He's pretty funny. He had several review sessions which were very helpful. He was also really fun to be abroad with! Just take really good notes, if you don't you will not be successful

He's actually kind of funny. Dry sense of humor. You need to take notes because his power points are all maps. Just write down the main points from each slide. Memorize those for the tests. Not a hard class. Just spitting facts back out. Got Bs to B+s on everything and after the generous curve at the end you wind up with an A

Attendance is absolutely necessary. You won't pass if you don't. Tests are full of very specific facts, so write down everything he says. Hard for a 100 level class. But you will learn a ton from lectures regardless of how well you perform on tests.

By far the hardest clas I have taken here. So much material is on the exams that it is impossible to remember all of it. He is a good and passionate professor but his class is extremely difficult. If you have to take this class make sure to go to every lecture and take good notes. The tests are only based on the lectures.

This class is hard for a 100 level, but not impossible. You should attend all of the classes & take notes on everything he says & on all of the maps. Do well on the mini-tests because those can help or hurt you in the end. Second test is very hard, but study the maps & where things are located & you will do fine.

I don't understand people's complaints about this class or the Professor. This was by far the most enjoyable class of my semester. The class is very interesting, and Dr. Rees knows what he's talking about. Tests are not hard at all: 50 multiple choice questions. Just take good notes and look over them before the tests. No need to read the textbook

As long as you attend every class and take really good notes, you will be absolutely fine. Tests and exams are sometimes tricky, but fair. All material is covered in the lectures, but make sure you pay attention all the time. Textbook hardly used. Overall, I liked the class and learned a lot!

By far the worst teacher at Delaware. Stay away from this class at all costs. The TA is useless and the Professors exams are extremely detailed and complex that studying for hours will not help you remember every detail he asks. Take a different teacher for this class. Don't put yourself through this.

this class is hard but if you go to every class and take notes you can do okay. legit write down everything he says and then go over the notes to study. i didnt open the book once bc i went to class but buy the atlas, youll need it for mini tests. his tests are tough so take really good notes even though hes extremely boring

ABSOLUTELY DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. I went to every class and took notes and still failed almost every mini-test and got a 25/50 on one of the exams. The questions on the exams were COMPLETELY unfair and were purposefully worded so that unless you had the atlas memorized there was no way to know the answer. By far the hardest class I've taken.

Very hard. Never had a problem here so far at UD except for this class.Be prepared for mini-tests, they count in the end. As for his tests, very unfair. Random questions that were never discussed and it is VERY detailed. Content is, yes, somewhat interesting but way too much for one test.

Comment:
Rees for some reason thinks that anyone sleeping or using their phone in class is a major distraction. But from experience in this class- nothing is more distracting than Rees stopping class, yelling across the room for the person next to the student sleeping to wake them up, then kicking them out of class. Maybe that's just my opinion though.

This class literally made me want to punch myself in the face. Be prepared to know more than just the borders, climate and terrain of regions. Prof. Rees loves rivers so make sure you know everything about them for the mini-tests and exams.
