No homework but you HAVE to read the textbook in order to understand what he is saying in class. He moves very fast (expected). Questions are more than welcomed but usually no one asks them. The quizzes and tests are easy since he gives you the exact types of problems that will be on them. The final is very hard so solve a ton of extra problems.

DO NOT take this class. He makes extremely easy concepts hard and does not explain it good at all. He is an extremely hard grader on your exams and quizzes as well. I recommend to switch in another class as soon as possible!!

If you care about your GPA, don't take McCarthy, but if you want to learn to write a proof so that you can be a successful mathematician, take McCarthy. He will force you to become a proof-writer, a skill that has benefitted me greatly in other classes. However, he gets off-topic very easily and we didn't cover nearly enough material in the class

I graduated with a 3.8 GPA, my wife a 3.9 and we both almost failed this class. He was by far the worst prof we have ever had.
