Overall, he is ok. His answers to questions were long-winded and really confusing. Overall fair grader, exams are tricky, and he makes you think critically which is good. He handled the covid19 situation weirdly: gave more time to do assignments but then went out of his way to make the final exam harder (online, closed book, all long answer)

one of the best profs i've ever had. unfortunately, every prof since him pales in comparison. forces you to change the way you think about science and develop critical thinking in a way few other profs do. extremely helpful and kind as well. 10/10 would recommend

Great prof! The class is very interesting, but you definitely need to put a lot of work into it. Three papers, two presentations, a midterm and a final. He really makes sure his students learn and understand the material and allows everyone to think hard about the topics presented. Super helpful and wants students to succeed. Highly recommend!

AWESOME prof. Class is difficult, but he gives you lots of opportunities to do well. Go see him and he will give you lots of help with presentation/studying etc. Very very intelligent and know lots on the subject! If you are willing to work hard, his classes are worth it!

One of the best lecturers I have ever had at the UofA. Workload is reasonable for a 400lv neuro-based class . Took students on a week long "field trip" to his lab which was extremely interesting. Attendance is advise. The ~20 minute class presentation isn't too difficult. I advise showing him your presentation beforehand as he helps a ton.

Heavy workload, large presentation and most of the content is based on stroke research in mice models. He is very knowledgable but students lead the lectures with presentation and he doesn't do much teaching.

High expectations,he let be known. Interesting, I learnt A LOT from the course. But 30min student presentations were too long, rather be lectured by him. Overall ok, a MIDTERM would be helpful. Short reports great, easy and increased understanding of specific topics. Helpful, inteligent, deilcate hands perfect for rat surgery

He is an insanely intelligent man who is passionate about his area of work. Perhaps people who work in his lab do well because they actually care and are interested in the material. Perhaps also some people don't realize that this is a NEURO psych class, which means you might actually have to know some physiology and biology-related material.

The material was interesting, but he was a poor prof. His MC questions are incredibly hard and tricky, his written was good. You can ace the written and fail the MC. He is arrogant. He marks using a grad scale not an undergrad scale, and unless you work in his lab good luck getting over 90% only 8 did, and OH MY there were 8 kids from his lab in it

Difficult course material, but he makes it more enjoyable to learn. Exams aren't particularly hard though he likes to throw one or two hard questions in. Eitherwise, go to class and listen to his hints and half the test has already been answered. Fair prof.

Very interesting material. Even when you think you studied well, think again. Insanely difficult to get close to full marks on long answer questions. I almost failed his class and I am in the honors program.
