He's a nice, but not a strong professor. If you want to take the class because you want to be an auditor, you will not learn enough to make it. He's emotional. He graded one exam all semester. He did ALL the semester grading on the last weekend before submitting the final exam to the school. Never gave feedback on personal papers unless hunted down

If you can take a different professor do it! You can tell he knows the material but does a horrible job of teaching it. Homework is assigned before you even learn that chapter and takes hours! You turn in homework for completion so you never know if its done correctly or not. He has a funny personality but can come off as rude at times.

If you have the option of chooisng any other professor I suggest you take it. He did a terrible job of explaining everything, the only way I was able to learn the material was by going to tutoring. He doesnt check if the Hw you turn in is correct so you have no idea if you are doing it right.

He knows what he is talking about when it comes to accounting, but he doesn't do a very good job of making sure the students know. He grades homework only on participation so you have no idea if you're doing it right, and it's hours of work that's only worth 3 points. He got lazier and the class eventually was just a waste of time towards the end.

He is the reason I changed my major to accounting. He's super nice and is fully capable of explaining things in more than one way. He's easy to talk to and he knows what he's talking about not just about accounting.

He makes you do the homework before he even teaches the subject, so that's really difficult. He also has no examples on his powerpoint slides, it's almost as if he thinks you already have taken an accounting class. This is pretty much a teach yourself class, and it's not an easy class to try and learn on your own.

Cannon doesn't deserve the bad rep he gets on here. He's a quirky dude but a good teacher. I enjoyed his classes. The first half of the class felt heavy but after that it got pretty light. Doesn't grade everything you do and doesn't really use blackboard. Exams are take-home essays with around 15 MC q's. DO NOT CALL HIM PROFESSOR KLUMP

Professor Cannon is extremely boring and you learn nearly nothing with him as a professor. Additionally, you never know the grade you have in the class with him as he doesn't update blackboard. Definitely a lazy professor and try to avoid him if you want to learn anything.

Cannon seemed alright at first but as the weeks went on, he stopped teaching. He would just go through PowerPoint slides which were just the book pages. LOTS of homework. Basically a teach yourself class.

Hes okay. The class is not structured well and I feel as if thats what threw me off. Homework for a chapter is due before he teaches you the chapter so have fun. I just didnt like accounting either.

He is awful. He has no idea what he is doing and is one of the only if not the only accounting professor who tries to lecture with little to no examples. He does not grade home work for accuracy so until the exam you have no idea if youre doing it right. You have 8 hours of home work a week

Prof. Cannon is one of my favorite professors at GVSU. He is possilby the only ACC prof that does not use Connect (the online book). He believes accounting is to be learned "at the tip of a pencil" and by the end of the class I agreed. 3-4 exams that are challenging, homework for each chapter (credit-no credit) and easy extra credit. Great prof.

This man was the reason I got a good job after college. He gets a lot of negative feedback because he, unfortunately, teaches a boring topic. However, he has extensive knowledge on accounting and IT. Pick his brain. He talks a lot, but what he says has tremendous value.

Boring. Boring. Boring. I'm sure he's a nice guy, but he never stops talking. I always felt like I was trapped with no way out. And, he doesn't grade most of the exams and hw turned in till the very end of the semester so you have no idea how you're doing. Can't say I learned much either... too boring to pay any attention.

Lectures are very, very boring. No need to pay attention though, the exam questions are based on online quizzes. So many group assignments. Didn't learn much. The longest 3 hours to go through each week.

Comment:
Very boring professor if you are not interested in the subject matter. Little to nothing from lectures actually matters for exams so don't worry too much. Fairly easy class; just a lot of random long homework/group assignments. Exams came from online quizzes that can't see the answer to unless you get 100% on the quiz which is very frustrating.

Comment:
The summer class is more condensed; less projects, quizzes, and don't have to do a presentation. Downside is lectures are long. Dr. Cannon reads off a PowerPoint (be prepared to take notes fast). Some concepts he explains well and others not so much. He gives a take home mid-term exam that is lengthy to write. Group projects but far less than fall.

Comment:
A great professor if you want to actually understand accounting, not so great if all you want from the class is an A. His lectures are more focused on understanding concepts than solving problems so they won't get you ready for the test. Class is manageable if you do the homework and go to his office hours.
