Kaplan is the best! He's hysterical and his class isn't too difficult. 4 easy response papers and 3 exams, the best of which is counted twice. Just write down random things he says that he might throw in on the test and know the basic elements of the various stories. Also if you talk up Sandra Bullock to him he will love you.

Such a nice guy. 4 ungraded, 1 page response papers. 3 exams, highest exam is counted twice. Such an easy class if you read. I used sparknotes, read the info of the author and the commentaries in the book. If you know the basic info; how the story ended, setting, point of view, about the author, and the stuff he says in class you will get an A.

what a guy. Keeps class light and fun by cracking jokes. If you read the stories and go to class, you do well... really well. Simple as that. He is one of the coolest professors on Udels campus, and thats a fact.

His teaching style is definitely unconventional. He changes the content for his texts in time course each semester, my semester was hockey literature, Focuses on more interesting topics that relate to our lives. Discussions are lively. 3 papers and we had a chance to rewrite each one. Fair grader and truly cares about individual students.

Easiest class I've had since middle school without exaggeration. I rarely went to class and when I did I spend the entire class on facebook. 4 one page ungraded essays, and the tests are all multiple choice. No final. Easiest A i've ever gotten. (you MUST read the stories, but they are usually enjoyable)

Absolutely loved him! Such a sweet guy who really wants you to do well. 4 ungraded, 1-page response papers that are only counted whether you did it or not. 2 exams plus final based on minimal info on the short stories. Definitely easy to pass with a little bit of effort. Some stories actually interesting, don't bother fully reading. Spark notes=A!

nicest guy on the planet! He WANTS you to do well, so he is always very helpful and understanding. You should go to class--he mentions a lot of things that show up on the exams. exams are not simple but not impossible, and response papers are so easy. i love bernard!

Very easy class but lectures are SO slow. Good for a MWF, but definitely not a TR. Lectures are virtually useless except for announcements on response paper topics and random vocab for the test. If you do all the reading, then easy A and easy class.

I took Kaplan for honors colloquium. He was amazing. His handwriting is IMPOSSIBLE to read, but he grades well and the class is fun. He creates a great classroom environment.

I'm not a big fan of literature classes but I loved this one. Kaplan made it so much fun to learn and kept the material interesting. He also cracked a lot of jokes. Multiple choice exams. Easy if you read and go to class!

Kaplan's class was by far the best colloquium this year. Don't worry about the grades on the first two papers, especially the first one. If you do well on the third one, that's all the matters. Take this class if you can, Kaplan is great!

Easiest class I've taken at UD so far. Kaplan is by far the most laidback prof I've ever met on this campus. He's more interested in showing you that reading/writing doesn't have to be a chore than anything else. So long as you show some effort and/or improvement, you'll get an A.

Bernie Kaplan is amazing. His class was interesting and fun. The stories were great. Attendance was not mandatory and your grade was determined by 3 easy 60 question tests, your highest score doubled. He also gives out as many extra points as you challenge him on after each test. Awesome class, awesome professor!

Took fiction writing from him. I was determined to be a writer. Told me I was "a good student but he didn't see any real talent." That was discouraging to hear as a 20 year old. Teachers should encourage students not discourage them...their words have a lot of power.

BKaps is the man, straight up. He is a very reasonable person and grades papers like they should be. The thing I liked about him was that pretty much the final grade you get in the class is the grade you get on your revised final paper, which is how it should be. I did not read one book or any assigned reading, but participated a lot in class.

Bernie is hilarious. Gives B's and C's on the first few papers, but you'll most likely get an A if you try at all on the last paper. Only 3 papers all semester, and you can rewrite each one. Also you can write about almost anything you want. Loved the class, loved the teacher. Highly recommended.

By far one of the best professors. really funny old guy who understands college students. one learns a lot and it is a very stress free class. only like 3 papers and you get to rewrite them all although his comments are virtually unreadable. the ideal class to take for any student

Kaplan is the man. This was one of my favorite classes I have taken thus far. He knows the majority of people are there just to fill a group A, but you still get something out of this class. Goes over the tests afterward to give extra points. 3 MC/TF tests, counts your highest grade twice. Take this with him if you can. Real easy A
