Comment:
The lectures were easy to follow and he makes you feel prepared for the tests (except the occasional time he throws in some random, never-seen-it definition). Dr. Davis is very kind and seems passionate and knowledgable about philosophy. He breaks down big concepts and makes them easy to understand. Definitely got some foundations in philosophy.

Let me be clear, this professor does not shy away from looking at both sides of an argument. This is a good thing. He does not stifle critical thought, nor does he try to indoctrinate you into his opinion. He gives fair, well-reasoned, critiques of all philosophical arguments. He is easily one of the greatest professors in Ontario.

Davis uses his class time to teach his own prescripted arguments to people who don't know any better and those with free thought get put down by liberal use of adhomonyms and various other non-reasonable tactics. Considering his specialty is logic, this is definitely poor form.

Comment:
I found that instead of actually teaching the material required in a history of philosophy class, Professor Davis had his own agenda...I just don't like fallible opinions being taught to impressionable groups like young Christians. He is a good person though and quite interesting. It just wasn't what I was looking for in a philosophy class.

I really enjoyed his class. I don't normally understand philosophy but he made it real easy to understand. I learned alot in his class and it was really helpful. He's an excellent teacher- despite the tangents he goes on sometimes.

One of my favorite teachers, and classes now. Recommend EVERYONE to take a look at some of his classes. He can take a very complex issue, break it apart and make it VERY easy to understand and relate to everyone around us.

Dr. Davis makes teh most complex philosophical issues understandable and also applicable. He also shows us why phil is important to our understanding of the christian life. Both Jesus and paul were awesome logical thinkers. Hand of God upon him for sure!!!

Wonderful man of God. Teaches with absolute clarity, always uses scripture to refute and back up any sort of philosophical claims. I would recommend Dr. Richard Davis to any one looking into any matters of philosophy, religous or not...
