HIs lectures were dry but he knows his stuff. Pretty easy, four 750 word essays and takes your best three. Final was easy, as long as you study and read over your notes. not great feedback on essays so it can be hard to improve on your next ones. The textbook isn't 100% necessary but can be helpful for essays.

I have taken three classes with Ede now. He is very knowledgeable in his field. I find his classes very interesting with clearly outlined assignments. can be very helpful during office hours, and will gladly help out and give you direction. As others have mentioned, Ede doesn't post on eClass very often, so participation matters.

Comment:
The lectures for this class were extremely dry and he does not post anything on Eclass. He is extremely knowledgeable and wrote the required text book, which really helps with the essays. There were 4 papers to write but he took your 3 best marks which was really nice since they made up 70% of your grade. Not a hard marker, just a different style.

Don't miss the lectures, and buy the book and you should have a good time. Class material was very interesting, writing assignments were not to difficult, and he gave the option to rewrite one if you were unsatisfied with your grade I think Dr. Ede is very knowledgeable and i really enjoyed his lectures. I would 100% take a class with him again.

Horrible professor who is very arrogant and makes you read the textbook that HE WROTE HIMSELF. Doesn't even read the full essay and just comments on all the bad things in the introduction. Lectures

Comment:
His lectures were extremely boring and his final exam was difficult fi you did not do the readings or prepare for the exam. However, the 4 essays weren't too bad as long as you knew what he wanted. He seems to mark the introduction only, so as long as your intro is good, you can get a decent grade on the essays.

Every science student should take a history of science course. Lots of good subject material, gives science today a good context, quirky but solid instructor. Don't be scared by the cape, there is a good reason for it. Highly recommend Dr. Ede.

Ughhhhhh! The worst. Wrote his own textbook, so you know he knows his stuff (very smart). However, every class is a random rant. I hardly had time to scribble down something important by the time he was off on his next subject. This class was a giant headache of disorganization. The worst part was that the subject matter was actually interesting.

Great lectures but require attentive listening, some classes I did find dry but he tried his best not to make the lectures as dry as the material. Great guy. I would definitely recommend this professor.

Great prof, only wish I could have kept up with the assigned readings. Go to the lectures pay attention and do the readings. Very interesting class and lectures are great. If you do the readings you should need to worry so much about taking notes just listen in class.Marks hard but fair.

Really good prof! But I warn you now be original and challenge the norms! He likes students who tackle different views on issues. Attend class and read the assigned novels. Then the class will be easy.

Worst teacher I have ever had, he hates anyone who is not an engineer. He is arrogant and self centered; impossible to get a hold of and is all around terrible at teaching. He merely preaches his idiotic beliefs(that happen to go against many history books) and teaches nothing you cant learn from just reading his terrible book.

He was IMPOSSIBLE to get a hold of, rarely using his email. He assigns useless papers and never addresses the topics, he pretty much rambles on uselessly and out of order while you write papers on completely different material. He also made up facts, and taught us to use wikapedia as a source(like come on?). Also he hates anyone who isnt an engineer.

Very interesting class to go to. However, his lectures are out of sequence in terms of the year/era. They are by scientific category (i.e. technology in physics, medicine etc). His final is textbook-based, although no one ever read it until two days before the final, cause he never referred to it.

I paid attention in his class and attended every lecture. What I can tell you is that this man is arrogant, pompous and disrespectful which we can immediately gather by the ridiculous cape he wears to class. This is north america not 17th century Western Europe! His textbook was useless and I would find more meaning in the threads of toilet paper.
