You will not be disappointed with his quirky reputation, he is a coca cola guzzling, physics Santa. He is one soft spoken cool cat, but if you email him a question don't expect to get a response for a few days. There are basically no guidelines whatsoever which is frustrating at first but it means that they are lenient with grading which is nice.

I dont understand this mans job. He seems completely in the clouds and does not do a good job of explaining concepts or answering questions. His office hours were not helpful at all.

Big bad Benton was the second spiciest man on campus (next to Branimir) and always was guzzling a cold sodie pop or apple juice during labs. 10/10 would take labs with Brucie again.

Know everything before you enter the lab. Figure out every formula you're about to use, especially before the lab final. Write simple conclusions about sources of error in calculations that demonstrate you really understand the experiment. Know your rotational physics.

For those not ready and willing to do class preparation, such as designated readings before class, you will struggle. Lectures are very example/practice based, covering little theory. This is where you need to do a lot of studying to learn the concepts being discussed before the class. Overall hard marker, but not impossible to do well.

Truly, he is a nice person, but as a prof he was horrible. He clearly knows the material, but he can't teach whatsoever. Expect to teach yourself the course, and recognize when you need help and find it! The textbook will help some, make sure you use it. Making smart friends never hurts either...

Benton is a nice guy if you talk to him outside of class and is willing to help. Unfortunately, he is not great at teaching. He often boggles down topics with jargon and notation. Watch out for terribly worded questions on his midterms. Just remember: the class that fails together, scales together.

Not an effective communicator. We do not know what is expected from us students. Class average is in the 40's. Evidently he is doing something wrong.

Comment:
Benton is a nice guy. However, he isn't a great prof- the slides are rarely complete online, and he doesn't really explain the concepts you're supposed to know for the exam. Apparently the course is mega-scaled, but so far the averages for the midterms have been 50%.
