Dr. Pearson is the best! Very helpful and honest. She wants you to do well in her classes. She is very approachable and always willing to help. She will talk with you if you get too stressed. She does make you work in the class (it is college) but she is always willing to go over feedback. She is very detailed in her feedback.

I am so serious when I say AVOID taking this class. I am an A student, but received a solid C. I did everything that I possibly could to pass and put my blood sweat and tears into this course , but it was not enough. If you got an A, you must be a wizard of some sort.

This class is extremely difficult. If you don't do well in one subject area, you automatically get a low grade. Even if you do well in other areas, it still does not help your grade. You are only graded on exams, yet expected to do group projects and multiple discussion boards. Those are only given a check mark if you do them. Didn't learn anything

She is HORRIBLE. She has a bundle grading system that make no sense at all. Throughout the whole class I did not learn anything. I could have received the same grade if there was no professor in classroom because she did not do anything. When doing projects she is incompetent in giving feedback. I would avoid her at all costs. STAY AWAY!

I never took a hybrid course before but I do regret taking this one. Professor P is wonderful and knowledgeable in the field but I have not taken anything away from this class worth remembering. Tests are tough and there is lengthy reading required. The grading was interesting, being in a "bundle" format. She was great but the class, not so much.

Comment:
This class was hybrid and we were supposed to read and teach ourselves outside of class but when in class it was a waste of time. She talked about things that were not relevant to the class. Watch out on her tests she mixes the order of the answers on the answer sheet. You cannot just transfer your answers over. I don't suggest this prof.

Professor Pearson is awesome! The class takes some getting used to because of its hybrid format, but she is very supportive and guides you along. She really knows what she's talking about and has a lot of experience wit language disorders. I would take her again!

Very helpful if you use her office hours. Material was extremely hard. Parts of a test can count for almost half the grade. Studying the book was not helpful. Skimming would have been better. Know the surface stuff and mechanics. Should have studied that more. Class started with 25-30 and ended with 12 students. Very challenging material.

We had 5 exams. You will have to be able to read and teach yourself as a lot of this class is flipped. YOU MUST BUY THE BOOKS! You will NOT pass otherwise. Pay attention to the short summary at the end of each chapter and multiple choice questions, she likes to add those on the test. Also, she is an expert so ask her questions!

Dr. Pearson is an expert in her field. The class is challenging, especially for those with no background in linguistics, and the material is dense. However, she is more than willing to make time to help you improve. Do not come in expecting to study literature.

Had her for a hybrid course. In class lectures are pointless. Did all the reading, studying and learning outside of class. There are a lot of tests, but they are easy and one big group project at the end of the semester - which is a fairly easy project, but the groups are big which causes some issues. Do the readings and it should be an easy A.

Such a great lady, and a pretty great professor. She's still very clearly passionate about what she teaches, and it helps the lectures not seem so long and boring. I wasn't interested in linguistics (especially after 261) but this class was great! I definitely recommend it. Tests aren't too bad, and the final (and only)group project is pretty fun.

HATED thus class. The professor teaches about how to teach students with learning disabilities, yet when you ask for help all she does is tells you to go to the student disability center. I would never recommend her.

She is very nice, clearly cares about her students. If you go to office hours have specific questions ready. Tests and projects were good, effort is required but they are fair. The subject was challenging for some people. I hope to take her again, she creates a really good learning environment!

She can be unclear at times and, although I enjoyed the class, I still feel like we could have learned more. Grades like a true English professor when it come to papers. The end of the class felt rushed and jumbled and I'm still not sure exactly what she wanted on a lot of assignments. Despite allthat, I would recommender her, just be ready to work

Just horrible. Completely incomprehensible, two enormous projects in the last week of classes without any explanations, makes you feel useless in her feedbacks, really really low average grades for the whole class.. Don't take her by any means, run as fast as you can!

I had to drop this class half way through the semester, I did all of the readings, joined a study group and still failed both exams. It was very discouraging. I think she is nice and has good intentions, but her grading is much too harsh and so are her expectations.
