Really lazy guy. Would go over like three examples in class and that was it. Not good at explaining problems. Half of the time this guy would be in his own world. The entire class would be talking and he would just keep talking to himself.

Easy course - easy A. he is spaced out but has a warm personality and feels like a friend rather than a prof

Offin's a good guy - he sometimes makes arithmetic mistakes, which any student can correct, but the main thing you learn are the concepts and the methods - which he teaches well. I found that he helped me a lot in understanding the concepts intuitively

I took 3 courses with him, and he was awful in all three. He often made mistakes with simple arithmetic calculations that were corrected by students. His lectures are just the worst I have ever had at Queen's. He often was late and gave inconsistent marks on the exam, as well, in terms of how part marks were graded. I would have given a score of 0.

I took Math 231 with Prof Offin in 2017. Although he was often late for our class, we even didnt know whether this is bad enough or listening full unorganized lecture is worse. I wrote there since I found out that he will start to teach Math 281, the hardest and most logical course in year 2 math. Try your best to go to another section please!

Forgot that we had class and didn't show up one day, was often late. Sometimes people asked questions and he was condescending or rude in response which is why I didn't ask questions in class. Unorganized and made errors in long examples we had all copied then went back to change large portions. Very confusing and hard to follow.

The math its' self isn't hard, but it may be better to just teach yourself. My favourite moment was in an LDI when someone asked if he could explain how he got the answer and he replied, "No."

He is incapable for of forming a whole sentence without saying "um" or repeating himself, and is constantly being confused by his own disorganization almost bring the lectures to a halt at some point. One of the worst profs I've had.

A horrible teacher. He constantly contradicts the lectures he makes us watch and rarely ever properly answers questions. Better off skipping his class and going to one of Ableson's lectures.

As others have mentioned, he provided no syllabus, no OnQ page, and showed up late to nearly every lecture. He answers most in-class queries with sarcasm or confusion (or both) and seems to have no understanding of where his students are at. You'll have to read the textbook to understand, but beware he only gives part marks for his way. Ahhh.

It's 2017, he doesn't even have an OnQ page and his website has GIF's of dancing penguins on it. He doesn't seem to care about the students and is very poor at answering questions.

Professor Offin may have more care for the subject matter he's teaching.. than the students. He has a blizzard and somewhat rude/in your face personality that makes you want to not attend class. Honestly I might not have if he had used OnQ at all or kept up an accurate webpage. I basically self taught myself this course so I could pass the final...

Poor professor overall. Showed up 5-10 minutes every lecture and explained the bare minimum of material. Don't expect to actually understand differential equations afterwards.

Not sure what this guy is high on but he is definitely on something... Very unorganized. Often late and disoriented. Banal jokes with no real punch line. Seem to pick and choose who he grants favours to. Not sure how this guy still teaches. Dont waste your time, he has no communication skills to be teaching a class..

This has been one of the worst profs I have encountered during my undergrad at Queens. He is painfully bad at teaching and I would recommend that everyone avoids any class taught by this man. How he is still teaching at this school is beyond me. Stay away.

If you don't need to take a class taught by Offin, don't. Class average frequently around 50-60%. Midterms and Finals virtually impossible. Very disorganized, marking takes too long, and he won't respond to emails. Scheduled our midterm during one of my classes, and was very rude when asked if any alternate arrangements could be made. Doesn't care.

Four years undergrad, easily the bottom 2 or 3 profs I ever had. Seemed like an okay guy except he was disorganized and a very bad lecturer. He basically just copied examples out of the textbook on the doc-cam, like others have said, avoid his courses, and go to another section if you can.

Really nice guy, terrible prof. He was really unorganized (he didn't even post practice exercise numbers for the last part of the course), and generally unavailable for help. Good at math, but not teaching it. So basically if you want to grab a beer with him, go for it, but don't take his class.

Honestly the most terrible professor I have EVER experienced in my lifetime at Queen's. Literally made the difference in my MATH GPA. He's a mess of a person and his teaching skills are nonexistent. It's like watching someone do math over their shoulder. Wanna explain? NO?! ALRIGHT THANKS DANIEL OFFIN HIS OWN WORLD
