Comment:
Prof Gagnon is by far the worst teacher I have ever had. He makes his assignments unnecessarily difficult. His lectures are also impossible to understand. He overcomplicates everything he teaches to the point that I stopped going to lectures because I got no use out of them. Dont be fooled by his passion; hes only passionate about sounding smart

Prof. Gagnon is an amazing professor. He doesn't take many excuses, but gives you all the tools you need to exceed and is accommodating when need be. He's truly passionate about his content, teaches you all you need to know if you show up to class, and releases his assignments two weeks early so there is lots of time to get them done if diligent.

Comment:
Professor Gagnon was not supportive during COVID. He values his materials more than students. He thinks so highly of himself that he has water print over his assignments and believes everyone is going to copy his slides and assignment. I can tell you this. His assignments are not worth looking at, and he doesn't know how to teach. Don't take 321.

Comment:
Louis is one of the worst professors at Smith; extremely terrible. His lectures are dry, difficult to understand, and boring. He doesn't care about his students, especially during a time in COVID. He doesn't answer questions on the Commerce Portal, questions during class, or questions sent by email. His assignments are the longest, 77 pages.

Decent teacher. However, very low caliber when it comes to grading - intentionally hands out ridiculously low marks to satisfy his ego and reach an average class grade that is below almost any other course. Would not recommend taking this course

Evidently, the EMBA buddy down there commented about 10 times lowering this guys rating. He is truly a great professor, and I learned the most from him throughout the MFIN program. He even won professor of the year for our class!

By far THE best prof I have ever had since attending Queen's Commerce. The material is hard but he makes it extremely understandable and easy to get a good mark in. I highly recommend.

Everyone gives this guy a hard time because the content is hard and he doesn't spoon feed the material. He covers way more stuff than he has time to explain in detail but is always willing to talk outside of class. A great guy, looking to have a great time. Exams are a piece of cake, almost the exact same as his practice problems and assignments

This course might be interesting if you have a good basic knowledge in trading. The script is simply very bad - there are some charts and no explanations. The content of the course is very hard, the exams are, too. I think Louis gives his best in order to motivate students but the material is inacceptable. :(

Unlike other finance courses where profs teach repetitive stuff, I find this course material very new and exciting. Prof. Gagnon pushes you to really do the work and understand the fundamentals behind the problems and explain why it is relevant. Excellent course for undergraduate students and very rewarding.

I don't understand what is with all the EMBA and MBA students. Professor Gagnon is an excellent prof. He doesn't baby the students and ask for their best. What he teaches is hard, but you just have to work at it. He is extremely helpful and is willing to provide extra guidance in order for the student to be successful.

I noticed all these posts stating that this Professor was one of the worst Professors they have for the EMBA. I can't speak to his ability to teach EMBA, but without a doubt he was an exceptional teacher in Comm 321. He presented the information clearly, available for help, he knew his stuff (and passionate about it), and was a nice guy.
