Comment:
She is an academic, and thus holds deep convictions of various types in her area of study. However, I think she recognizes that her own stances are radical. If you disagree with her, that's fine, provided you understand the arguments involved. To properly understand her passion probably requires someone to read her book.

This isn't a bad class to take, but it is ALOT of work. She's very critical, has very high expectations and is frankly quite intimidating. If you don't like speaking up in class, don't take one from her. Her essays are tough too, 20 pages worth 20% is a bit extreme for a third year course. Overall not bad though.

Avoid Joyce if you can. She only likes you if you speak up in class, otherwise she glares at you. She is rude and marks very harsh. I wrote 8 pages of essay on the midterm and got 8/40. I attended every class and did all the readings. I dropped that lame class after that. What a horrible professor. Avoid her at all costs.

IF you want a prof who will change your life and your view of everything around you, take a class from Joyce Green. I took a political science class as an elective and after taking her class I changed my degree. You have to work hard though, do the readings and speak up in class. Incredible woman, absolutly unforgettable.

If you're a PSCI student and you haven't taken a class with Dr. Green, you're missing out! Clearly one of the most intelligent faculty members. She's really well respected in her field and if you work hard she does reward you. She challenges **** underpinnings, which our Univ could use more of.

I hate to break it to the other students. But if you can't pick up on her favouratism, then you have developed your critical thinking skills yourself! I got a 90 in her class, but I can still recognize that she picks favourites. NO ONE should get 100% on a essay, but somehow her favs do. She's arrogant without the merit of intellect.

All these critiques of Dr. Green are accurate. She does pick favorites!!! The people who actually do the readings and are able to argue coherently! Loved this class. Finally a class that awards students for doing the work and challenging the normative understandings in polsci.

I've never seen a prof pick favourites in such an obvious manner. I did well in this class and did not have any trouble "getting" her. However, if she doesn't like a student personally, that student will not do well in her class. Don't waste your time unless your a suck up.

Come on people, don't be unfair because you are intimidated by intelligence and I hate to break it to you, but if you did not do well than perhaps you are not fit for political science and objective thinking. Green is fair in her expectations therefore if you can't keep up I heard Mc Donald's is hiring, welcome to the real world of competition!!!

I did really well on the hand in assignments but didn't do so well on the midterms or final. She has an unrealistic idea of how much a person can put down on paper in 50 minutes. 4 essay questions in less than 50 minutes makes it almost impossible to do well.

Started off doing really well in this class - did above 85 on first midterm and assignment - then everything changed. She marks very strangely - you don't know what she is expecting. Prof. Green is a idealogue and I would not recommend her for this class - take it from Merran Proctor instead.
