Comment:
Richard is a lovely & passionate prof. 75% of his class was take-home exams (papers) & although thorough criteria/time to prep, I found them a bit unfair. They were generally on topics we had yet to discuss. I struggled to justify 3/4 of my grade being on content we had not yet learned when exams normally test knowledge on taught material.

Dr. Wright should be taking more upper-division courses. Loved the course. You can get an easy A if you work hard on the take-home exams. The cut-off for A- was 80%. Anything above 90% was an A+

I truly enjoyed Dr. Wrights class in almost every aspect. He was very caring and made lecture fun. Even over zoom I could tell he wanted to be lecturing and really enjoyed discussion with students. He provided readings by trimming many texts to make condensed and interesting material. His "Take-Home Exams" were challenging but fair and satisfying

Taking this class with Dr. Wright was one of the best decisions I have made. He made the course very interesting and coming to class felt less like an obligation and more like something I wanted to do by choice. I also loved the fact that our grades were based on papers instead of exams, which gave us the chance to research and apply what we learnt

Each paper will be 2500-300 words, and he'll give you 3 weeks to write one. I would recommend attending all lectures so you'll have basic knowledge of the topics you will be writing about in your papers. The papers will be marked lightly by the TAs, and the marks you'll received will be mainly based on topics following the lectures.

Dr. Wright is an amazing professor! He is very caring and genuinely cares about his students. However, there are 3 assignments worth 30% each and the instructions and rubric are not very clear. Assignments also had no feedback so I had no idea what needed to be improved. Quizzes worth 10% total, unlimited attempts! So it's like a free 10%.

I was quite hesitant about taking this course online this semester, but Richard Wright made the class experience great. His lectures are very interesting to listen to and you can see he really is passionate about it as well. There were weekly quizzes that you could redo till you got full marks that were worth 10% altogether and three thought papers

Probably the sweetest prof I've ever had. Such a nice guy. The course content was quite basic so really appreciated the recorded lectures that I could watch at double speed (Covid). Thought papers were a lot of work but I found them more interesting than the lecture content because you could explore topics more deeply. Will take his harder courses.

Wright cares about students and gives fantastic lectures. I never read the textbook and still got an A+ just from studying the lecture material. Would recommend going to class since he doesn't upload his lecture slides. Lectures are recorded and posted online. Easy and fun class

Quite possibly my FAVOURITE prof at SFU. I was worried because I read previous reviews before taking the class, but taking this class was the best thing I ever did at SFU. Richard is super nice and his lectures are pretty interesting, rebut keep in mind he has very little text on his slides. Based on lectures alone, it's easy to follow along.

He made the lectures very funny, entertaining and easy to understand. Lectures are not mandatory because he records, but would recommend going because they are that engaging and enjoyable! At the end of final lecture the entire class applauded him. Do yourself a favour and take a course with Wright!

I enjoyed taking a course with Dr. Wright. He makes class fun and interesting. Courses are lecture heavy so make sure you attend every class, take good notes (because he doesn't give slides) and study them well for the midterm and final. He also have 3 papers that he assigns as part of the overall grade. Would definitely take another course Wright!

Dr. Wright is an awesome prof!! Anything you need to know for the exam are in his lectures slides. He has about 3 papers and his test are all multiple choice. But if you paid attention in class and studied the slides, you will do great in this course. Would definitely take another course with him!

Assignments weren't tough and easy marks! However, the final was super hard and ruined GPA. Might have to retake the course as he doesn't allow final readjustments.

His lecture slides are mostly pictures, blank space, & little text. He also shows a lot of examples & demos to explain theories. There is no need to copy everything he says. Study the textbook, even topics he didn't cover for the exam. Assignments are just a few short paragraphs applying theories to personal examples, use vocab from textbook.

I loved Richard's class! His lectures are very engaging and he was very good at explaining things in a way that was easy to relate to and understand. Lectures also usually ended a bit early which was a plus! Exams are all multiple choice and the assignments aren't terribly difficult.
