Comment:
Doug is a good Professor, and has very engaging classes. However his assignments give little guidance as to what he expects, and I beleive this is by intent. Use his textbooks, he relies on them.

Doug's midterm is hell. It's hard but the other assignments bring up your mark if you do poorly on the mid. This was my only class with Doug and I wish I had the chance to take more with him. If you have the option to take policy/research with Doug, do yourself a favour and do it. You'll survive the mid term and he makes it fun/interesting.

If you have the option to take Doug for either research or policy, DO IT! These are the two classes I struggled with the most and Doug was very good at making such dull classes interesting. His lectures fly by and he usually lets you go early also he's not crazy strict about attendance. Doug is super inspiring and overall just a great guy.

Clearly outlined what he wanted for the course! Gave us tips on how to lighten the load and build off of each paper. Definitely read the textbook for the midterm and use the textbook website for their practice quizzes!!

Doug was great! He knows his stuff about research. I learned so much from this class. I thought it would be a dreadful class, but ended up being one of my favourites! You have to read the textbook, but his slides highlight the important stuff from the book. STUDY HARD for the midterm. He is a fairly easy marker, but the midterm counters that.

Doug is an amazing professor who truly cares about his students. I was worried about taking Research and it ended up being one of my highest classes. The MC on the midterm was all from the practice questions online from the textbook. Would definitely take another class from him.

Doug makes a really boring subject matter interesting. He is the best prof take this research class with because the assignments are fair and from what I hear the other classes involve math but he stays away from that because he knows most social work students are not interested in formulas.

Doug is aware that most people are not interested in research, but he makes it fun. I really enjoyed him and he made the subject far less stressful and scary then expected. He is very funny and engaging with the students. Tons of examples are beneficial to having a clear understanding of the material. BUY THE TEXTBOOK

He knew most social science students hate math & he made the class very easy(no math in research method & stat. !!). His classes were relaxing & well organized. He's a nice prof, a fair marker, & he knows how to explain a difficult concept in a clear & simple way. He's a good teacher.
