Comment:
DeWeil is actually a pretty cool prof! Definitely on the drier side, and tends to off on tangents a lot, but I genuinely learned a lot and he's great at explaining things more in depth if you ask! Do not stress about reading that big book, instead just take good notes and study off of those, as he tests off of his own lectures!!

Comment:
One of the most difficult classes I've taken. Lectures are confusing, and very hard to follow. The tests are hard, and Boris's grading policies are extremely unclear. He's looking for you to regurgitate his lecture notes onto the test. Going to office hours saved my grade. Boris genuinely wants students to do well when you work with him one-on-one.

Quite literally the worst prof Ive ever had. He is extremely elitist and youre not allowed to have an opinion. He also makes casual racist remarks towards indigenous culture. We only had to take this class because he is the chair of poli sci. Very little political philosophy actually involved.

Comment:
I took this course based on interest and was severely disappointed. I know there was an issue with him and a bunch of students last year and maybe that changed his marking and teaching, but the lectures were boring, his marking was unforgiving and he took personal offence if you ever try to dispute your grade or ask for reconsideration

Boring dude, not really a nicer way to put it. His lectures leave you more confused than before you went in. In addition to this, he marks fairly hard. It would be an improvement if he could hold the attention of a class better, interaction would be great!

Honestly if you're taking this course and you're not doing so well just go talk to him during your office hours and get ready to learn what you're doing wrong. Having a prof who will tell you what they want to see and what they will grade positively for is a huge advantage that you should be using.

Boris can be a tough grader at times, but his lectures are incredibly detailed and well-laid out. As long as you study his notes (which he posts online as well) and the textbook, it's not hard to get a good grade. The material can be challenging, but it's still one of the most interesting classes I've ever taken.

I will never take a class with him again. There is no doubt he is intelligent, but his passion is in his favourite philosophers. He couldn't care less about his students or philosophers that don't interest him. He sits high on his horse and has no concern for the "lesser beings" aka. students. Woe comes to thee who thinks differently than he.

EXCELLENT PROF! Knows the information inside and out, and clearly communicates the info to students!! Highly recommend taking a philosophy course with this professor. Every class leaves with your brain buzzing in excitement! By far the best course / prof at UNBC Best quotes "Physics is witchcraft" and "all of philosophy is just footnotes to plato"

Boris is a very interesting prof. He is extremely knowledgeable and thoughtful. The classes are difficult but the style will make you remember what you learned. He is not very sociable but is willing to work around that flaw. Best POLS prof I've has at UNBC, not great but pretty good.

Although monotone and somewhat boring, Boris knows his stuff, and is highly intelligent. Posts notes on the internet. You do not have to attend class, marks are 100% based on exams which is great if you cant stomach 1.5hrs of lecture. two thumbs up for Boris and Political Philosophy

I found him helpful in his office hours and generally knowledgeable, but it totally crushed my spirit when he told me that he thinks i have no ambition. if the man could use his powers for good instead of evil that would be appreciated

Nicknamed "Boring Boris" for a reason. You MUST do outside research about the philosophers to get a decent mark.

Thought this class would teach the politics of those philosophers we read on. Instead we focussed ONLY on their philosophies, religion, blah blah blah. He is monotone, boring and cant use powerpoint. Midterms and finals ask too descriptive questions.
