Comment:
This course is extremely boring but I don't have any negative things to say about her. She is very kind, approachable, and she does want students to do well. Only complaint is her lectures were very boring especially for 8:30 am, she reads off the slides, and her slides can get disorganized sometimes. Still an easy A overall with minimal work.

Prof. Lawless is really caring. The course is relatively easy with most of it being lecture based. I never even read the textbook. She may go over slides pretty quickly. But aside from that she's good choice for those who want a decent mark.

she is really nice and approachable. she does read off of slides but that just makes it easier if you can't make it to class. the course was common sense material. you do have to read the textbook bc she does ask a lot of questions from the book in tests. her ta Claire is really helpful for the assignment

Professor Lawless is the perfect fit for community psych. She has real world experience in the field and brings that out when teaching. I felt that her lectures were clear and organized and textbook was an easy read. Attend class, read the lectures and do the assignment and it is an easy A.

Professor Lawless has a real passion for community psychology and it shows in her lectures. I was engaged with the material and looked forward to classes. There are no surprises on the test as her lectures reiterate the chapters in the text. Term assignment was easy and it's an easy class if you go to class, read and study.

Approachable prof. Class is really boring though, don't recommend taking this at 8:30. For the first couple of weeks the lectures are straight from the textbooks, in the second half of class some are completely different.

- you will have a textbook that has about 25-40 pages a chapter. within these chapters is EXTREMELY boring and repetitive information, not in a good way either - if you have the option take another 3000 psyc it will be easier -test 1- 40% final- 45% assignment- 15% - material is DRY do yourself a favour and avoid - prof is kind, course is bad

terrible prof overall, reads right off the slides. if she tries to lecture without looking at the slides she messes up the wording. unprepared prof, uninspiring, lazy, unfair, don't understand how she got a PhD. I can't express how bad of a prof she is. if you have her class at 8:30 in the morning, run

Great Prof! Very nice and approachable. However, the exams are long and can be difficult if you do not read the textbook which is very dense. Some questions on the exam were very difficult as they were so specific. But overall great class!

A very nice person, however, incredibly disorganized as a professor. Unclear grading criteria and one of the tests included material that she didn't teach so she had to give us substitute questions during the exam (which showed she wasn't prepared). Lecture slides are either very wordy or not at all- no in between. Lectures are straight from text.

Comment:
4220 was a lot of work but e/t was worth very little (3papers, 1major essay, mini group presentation, major group presentation, 2exams). She grades pretty tough, but if you work hard you can get an A. Lectures and topics are boring (and more philosophy than psych), but show up for attendance marks. In general, Lawless is super sweet and caring.

Dianne is the best professor I've had at York. She is engaging, clear, and cares tremendously about her students. She makes boring content fascinating and actively encourages class discussion in an engaging manner. Exams are easy if you put the effort forth and do the readings. Pay close attention to additional material, you will be tested on it.

This course is the boringest one I have ever taken, because of the course content. I advise you to skim through the book prior to enrolling and see for yourself. She also has 10 mark somewhat random concept questions that need to be memorized or you will get 0. It is a very hard course to study for given the book is filled with random info

Diane was such an amazing professor. She marks very fairly and you're given lots of opportunities for marks. Participation is key. Attend all classes. Read the textbook. She cares a lot about her students and takes the time to get to know each student. She loves teaching and psychology and makes the subject easy to understand.

A very intelligent woman but often articulates material in a confusing (rather than clear & comprehensive) manner. Tests are extremely tricky even if you're a good student and know your material, however, lectures are enjoyable enough. She is very friendlyhelpful. If ur GPA is imp to u, I'd do ur research b4 taking this course w this prof.

Be prepared to commit to a lot of reading (& work). Participateengage, know & absorb your material & u'll love this course, as you will the teacher.

Easy class, easy exams, make sure you read the textbook. Memorize the major concepts. I stopped going to lecture because she posts the slides online. The additional readings and videos ARE on the exams.
