Comment:
Not a teacher, but he's a friendly guy and will answer questions if you have them. The class was online, but he did not lecture and decided to use class times as office hours. Expect to go into finals week with a few assignments still not graded. Overall, good for people who are self-sufficient but not those who like to be taught.

Mr. Anderson does not teach very much. The one thing that was taught in class ended up being reversed on the test so that most people got the problem wrong. The tests are designed to confuse students and not to see if the material is known. He takes the whole semester to grade assignments so there is no feedback and you don't know your grades.

Comment:
Very laid back and lenient professor. I took CS 258 with him. My biggest problem is that he doesn't teach and expects you to learn all of it. For more than half of our classes, we would show up, learn one skill, then he'd say "And you won't ever need to use this" which isn't "teaching". It is like he discourages you to show up to class.

He's not as enthusiastic. He doesn't teach. He's a do it yourself type of professor. He's not too helpful when it comes to in class teaching / show examples. His demeanor about it all is not professional. I've passed all of my classes due to get professors providing great examples, but this professor was not worth the time or energy.

Mr. Anderson is a really chill, down-to-earth type of guy. He is very understanding and open to help you out so long as you ask him for it. The syllabus and blackboard lays out the entire semester and you can work ahead if you feel so inclined.

Comment:
CS 461 class was generally idiotic. Anderson can teach extremely well, the problem is that he doesn't do it. He expected our class to program in a language(Prolog) that isn't even offered at the school, and he spent maybe 15 minutes of class time on basic syntax. Overall Anderson is a mid-tier professor.

I have taken Anderson for several courses and every time he has been a pretty good professor. He has lots of lab days, but when he does lecture you feel like you really learn something. Super smart guy, but also knows how to teach what he knows. If the class does bad on an assignment he normally gives an extra credit project.

Scott Anderson is a OK. I wish he had more enthusiasm and was deeper in instructing students. That said, for his experience and level of skill he is under paid. Scott knows what he is doing and can explain things very well. Do remember though, he is an applications and knows embedded far more than web development.

As long as you keep up with assignments (and understand the material), you will do fine. He is very lenient when grading and will even give extra credit if the entire class had a hard time. 3 exams the entire semester and you can use online tools for most of the problems.

More involved than his other classes. He actually lectured in this one frequently and would use most of the class time. You get out of his classes what you put in more than any other professor. Go the extra mile on the assignments and you will learn alot. DO NOT buy the textbook. Never used it.

Nothing to be said that any of the other reviewers havent said. Lots of assignments with little direction. I learned alot, just not due to the professor teaching. Only CS class I would recommend buying the textbooks for. They are short, cheap, and actually useful outside of class.

You don't need to really attend this class to pass it. I think all the assignments were things he created years ago for his Java class. As someone else previously mentioned, he doesn't teach at all. He will answer questions if you ask though. Also he is never at his office during office hours...

Class is a waste of time as he will walk in, talk for 5 minutes and then leave to go back to his office. He is nice guy but he shouldn't be a teacher for USI. I've been an intern for 2 years now and I guess most people like him because they pretend they know how to program since his assignments are easy and they can be lazy and turn things in late.

Quite possibly the best professor here. Yes he does require you to write your own programs which can be challenging, but I've learned more in his classes than any other. His classes are organized and due dates for assignments are reasonable.

Scott Anderson does not teach. I have made an A in every single one of his classes, am a senior now, and I can't stand him. Some people like the do it yourself method, which is great, if you weren't in college or paying for the classes. A teacher that doesn't teach is as worthless as they get. Go ahead, ask him a question and see how well it goes.

Comment:
Anderson is the undisputed king of do-it-yourself programming. You will learn to program in the same way that a drowning cat learns to swim. Fortunately, I liked this "head first" style of learning. Many others do not. Keep this in mind. Easygoing professor, but if you want someone to hold your hand, look elsewhere.
