Prof. Long has his opinions especially about Politics. He is also particular of the the attendance. If you just attend his classes and take down notes (which he emphasizes from time to time), you will get A+. Write what he discusses because it will be very helpful in the exam. He also gives reviews before the exams. Thumbs up for this professor.

Unless you are really into geography, I would not recommend him. His handwriting is offensively hard to read and the material we read was not really relevant to our final project at the end of the day.

Every week there is a quiz and discussion due on Sundays. The quizzes are pretty simple but the discussions are sometimes misleading and definitely difficult. Even if you do all ten of your comments for the discussion, he always says they're not long enough. And he takes FOREVER to grade them. Plus a 2500 word final essay and it is really hard.

By far the worst online class Ive taken at this school. Our grades involve writing a post that is due the following Sun., but need the 1st post by Tues. You HAVE to discuss with people during the whole week. Otherwise youre in for a shock when you get 820pts, and that's with the 1st post on time + 3 comments made. Long papers to boot. Never again.

It is a ton of writing and I didn't like how the class was set up. The work isn't graded until weeks later and the first essay wasn't graded until more than half of the course was over. How are you supposed to know if you are doing what is expected if you don't get feedback. Extremely tough grader! Don't take this unless you like to write.

This professor grades very harshly, to the point where you wonder if he has some personal vendetta against you. Instructions are not clear, grades very late so you don't know if you're doing something wrong until it is too late. I highly recommend not taking this professor

This class was not too hard but the essays are very difficult to receive a good grade on. He takes forever to grade something so if you continue to do your assignments the same you will not know if you are doing it right until you have completed about 3 and he will not sympathize with you what so ever. EXTREMELY RUDE! Dont take!

Dr. Long has structured these classes very well, I'd take him again. Lot of writing because these are gordon rule classes. Quiz and discussion for each weekly module - no cumulative midterm or final. The papers aren't that bad because they're not research papers - you're only allowed to use your textbook, so its easy to show you know the material.

Mark Long is the worst professor you could EVER have. He takes so long to reply to important emails. I would email him about an assignment and I would either get a reply at the very last minute or I wouldn't get one at all. This is not what a college professor does. If you must take this class, please take it with a responsible professor. Terrible

Dr. Long is one of my favorite professors at UCF. The work is not easy, but it is interesting. He is helpful and wants you to succeed. There are no tests but a lot of paper writing. I am getting ready to take my 3rd class with him.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! Although the material isn't hard, there is a ridiculous amount of work assigned. The work wouldn't be so bad if he did not take most of the semester to grade the first assignment. It doesn't help to know your mistakes when most of the assigned papers are already due. The class involves mostly writing and you don't learn much

Mark Long is a horrible professor. The class involves an enormous amount of writing and his instructions and expectations are unclear. He does not respond to emails, I had to email him four times and wait two weeks when I needed help. Rude, arrogant, and condescending. I'm a straight A student and I suggest that no one EVER take this professor!

Do not take this professor, unless you want to be miserable. First of all you write so many papers it's ridiculous. Also he is the most condescending person ever, he replies with rude and snarky comments when you ask a question. His instructions aren't clear, causing confusion.DO NOT TAKE!!!!

This course had more writing than your normal gen ed course. You also need to read the textbook. An A is achievable if you put forth at least some effort. Do not expect to get grades or responses to emails back quickly.

I emailed him multiple times and the quickest he ever replied was 4 days. Once took him 2 weeks to reply, then he accused me of procrastinating. Very condescending, his "innovative" way of teaching was confusing and weak. Terrible

I took it AMH 2010 online and it was horrible. The classwork is not bad, one quiz, responses, and blog a week but the set up of my 2020 class was better. Professor Long does not care about his classes shown by how infrequently he is involved. His syllabus is not clear if you have questions he is rude and talks down at you rather than helps.

Comment:
Took all of Mr. Long’s 3000 level courses and loved them. Yes, there is considerable amount of reading (100-150 pages per week)and writing involved (1000 word essay every week+2500-5000 final paper), however, there are no quizzes or tests. So, if you know you are better at writing than at taking standardized tests, I suggest you take his classes.
