Comment:
Nice enough professor but very boring. Taking sexuality, you would think there would be some fun/funny element to the class, but no. If you don't go to class, you won't do well. Powerpoints do not convey information well, and what he says in class is more important for the (hard) tests. If you don't take notes as he talks, don't expect to do great

He is a very educated professor and understands the material. The exams are all short and long answers. No multiple choice. The exams are very lengthy that are expected to be completed within the 50 min time while writing extrinsic and adequate explanations. There are extra credit opportunities on every exam however, not always simple questions.

Lombardo is one of my favorite bio professors at gvsu. His class is more hands on that following a lab packet and its truly interesting as well

Dr. Lombardo is one of my favorite professors so far. He is a bit quirky, but overall a great professor and and great person in general. Ornithology lab is, by far, my favorite lab. Make sure to buy the textbook and study a lot for tests. He's usually pretty quiet, but is actually pretty funny if you talk with him. He's worth getting to know.

Lombardo is a great guy, very sweet, and very helpful if you're willing to go to his office hours or just send him an email. He is more than willing to help you succeed, you just need to ask for the help and study.

This class has 3 essay exams that you have around a week to complete. There is a review paper with a presentation as well. Overall he grades fair and twice he gave us our papers back for a second chance to review/edit things he suggested. Lectures are discussion based and can be boring unless you love evolution science. He is a nice very smart guy.

He's a very sweet guy, but he is a very tough grader. If the response you give is a correct one but not what he was looking for, you will not get the points. Even if your response is researched, meaning it's not something you made up, and you have proof that the response is a valid response, it's not what he was looking for. So very close minded.

This prof. was super reasonable. He typically lectured about everything that would be on the exam, and he encouraged us to ask him questions during office hours or via email. He was very responsive to emails too. In addition, if we felt that were graded incorrectly on an exam, we had the option to write it up and potentially earn credit back.

Good guy, doesn't give a lot of opportunities for points. I wish his exams (lab exams in particular) were more spaced out and didn't have so much info. Could've broken them up into 4 lab exams as opposed to just 2 at the end of the semester. Doesn't offer any extra credit sadly. Tests can be super specific on some matters (mostly bird stuff)

Dr. Lombardo is a very nice guy and is very clear in explaining the material. He does have a tendency to fumble his words on occasion. He also tends to just expect students to know certain things. For example, in lab when we captured a frog, one student asked "How can you tell its a green frog?" and he honestly said "Because it just is."

He is extremely repetitive to the point it gets annoying. For example, he repeated almost every day and at least 5 times a day that amphibians need water...His class is boring and his exams are not the easiest. There are only a few things you are graded on which doesn't help if you do badly on one thing.

His lectures are fairly easy to follow but he tests on very specific detail and is picky with his points. Only have 5 tests and 3 writing assignments, are of which are graded fairly tough. Not my favorite teacher

All around genuinely nice guy! Very intelligent but if he doesn't know how to answer your question, he is not ashamed to say that he does not know. He will actually find the answer on his own time and provide everyone with the info. Fair grading! I would definitely consider him for another course!

Clear and to the point. No politics, just biology. Fair, great teacher. He doesn't try to be mr. tough and assign crazy assignments, just lectures and tests and a weekly journal. Very interesting articles. Highly recommended. Go to class and do great.

Very nice guy, good teacher. He outlines the main points of the previous class at the beginning of class. The tests are long but not hard. They are all essay that test your understanding of the material. If you pay attention at all you will do fine. Highly recommended

Lots of reading for this class and lots of class discussion. The exams are all essay style, but he gives you over a week to work on them. He doesn't make you feel uncomfortable when you participate in discussion but he does want you to back up what you say.

Prof. Lombardo is one of the most pedagogically astute Professors there is. He knows his stuff and how to explain it, keeps up to date, and is willing to discuss evolution in his office at any time. One of his best traits is his complete lack of politisizing the world. All he cares about is if you have the data to back up what you are saying.

He is generally easy to follow and good with lectures, but watch out for his lab and paper grades. If he doesn't make sence raise your hand and ask him to clarify and he will. He is very bussy outside of class and not the best adviser as a result. A very smart man with an awsome dedication to keeping his classes up to date!
