Professor Mongia is incredibly intelligent and very well-respected at F&M. She is very well-versed in her areas of study and it really shows in class. Her lectures are very interesting and she explains things very thoroughly. She assigns a lot of reading and writing, but she's very caring and accommodating to students who need help.

Professor Mongia is very kind. There are lots of discussions in her class, and sometimes it gets a little bit boring. The class covers only ten writers, and there are not lots of works to do. Grading is a little bit hard.

I'm not a great writer by any means, but I got A's on every paper in her class with minimal effort. Readings can sometimes be boring and tedious, but discussions were always very interesting.

I don't even have this professor as my advisor but she was there for me like an amazing advisor would be. Taking her class made me strongly consider majoring in English. She loves participation and will know a hard worker when she sees one. Favorite class of this semester. Very nice lady who wants you to succeed.

If you're an introvert and hate sitting around in a circle or forming groups of five all the time, stay away from this class. Otherwise, the material is pretty interesting and Mongia will appreciate original (but reasonable) literary interpretations. And don't be intimidated about people saying she's a hard grader; I got an A- in my first paper....

Not a positive experience. She was condescending, opinionated, demanded SO much from her students for a FND course...all the extra hours of work outside of class leading to sub-par grades because you may not see eye-to-eye with her. AVOID!

Mongia is a wonderful professor but she is such a hard grader. I don't think she gave anyone an A on our first paper. The class was very interesting and I really enjoyed it, although I may now be a vegetarian. Do the reading and essays and you'll get a good grade.

Professor Mongia may be a nice woman but she is absolutely not a nice grader. On the first day of class she came right out and said that she never gives A's. Virtually all class time is devoted to long, spacy discussions about pointless details in the various things that we read. She barely does any "teaching" at all. Avoid her like the plague!

She is a very nice woman, but I did not enjoy this class. Very difficult to get an A, and even harder if you don't pretend to agree with her. Not a horrible class, but not recommended.

Nice lady; can be a bit of a tough grader, but if you just basically write what she says in class and pretend that your relationship to food is perfect, you can get an A.

She's a good teacher, tries to get you involved in discussions and to see other's points of view, works with you on papers, and doesn't give tests, she is helpful and writes comments on memos& papers to give you a better grasp of what you need to work on its hard to get an A on a paper, B is average
