Shen only teaches through animated, Comic Sans PowerPoints. For my friends and I, this class was a real chore. He spends A LOT of time on simple topics, and then breezes through semaphores. He was okay, but I really didn't learn much in this class besides what I knew. Coronavirus or not, this class was much the same. He cares though, and that helps

My friend took courses with him and he only had nice things to say; the professor is accessible outside class, recommended books and researches that are not relevant to courses. Gives more homework though!

Professor Shen is my favorite Computer Science professor thus far. He is very intelligent and passionate about the subjects he teaches. His assignments are challenging and the exams are even more difficult, but if you make an honest effort and invest the time required you will get an A. Show up to lectures or you'll regret it come exams.

Explain the material well, but the exam is really tough. You have to pay attention to his class since he sometimes would tell you what things will be appear in the exam.

The first thing I notice is that Professor Shen is a hard working professor. He is smart, humorous, and he gives positive feedback. He gave me a lot of good advice about my project from last year, and I appreciate his help a lot. He also worked to promote computer networks and computer science in general to children, a plus!

Shen's OS class was very tough. Exams are open everything (including laptop), but they are still hard to pass. Shen's lectures and assignment directions ar usually unclear and changes the directions multiple times when the assignment is out. That being said, he is a nice person, cares about the students and is helpful during office hours.

Very dedicated professor. Professor Shen gives very positive and constructive feedback to my research. The communication was a joy, too. I believe every student who has done research with professor Shen would appreciate his expertise on the topic and such positive feedback. Highly recommend!

I like Professor Shen! He is is a very cool professor. He has a lot of research ideas on computer networks and distributed sensor networks, and love to share his thoughts with students. I respect Professor Shen not only because of his knowledge, but also because the way he treats student with real respect. Besides, he is very nice and considerate:)

Material itself isnt that hard at all, but his projects were pretty tough but the key is to START THEM EARLY and get his help. 1/2 of your final grade comes from projects and in the end thats what saves you from his insane tests even though they are open book.
